Oggy managed to start waking me up this morning around 7:00 AM. Most weekend days I would be a little bit annoyed by this but not today, today I was actually glad he was ready to get up and get moving with me since I had forgotten to set the alarm clock last night as planned.
Set The Alarm
Why in the heck would anyone want to set the alarm to wake up early on a Sunday morning when they are not planning on attending an early event or go to work you ask? Because I was planning to take my 130x helicopter out for its official maiden flight. Getting up early and heading to the parks is the best bet because there is little to no chance that there will be anyone there. Maybe the occasional person walking their fuzzy kid, but generally that does not start until 10 or 11.
Once up and ready I had a great idea! I should see if Cicely wants to get up and go with me. That was she can walk around with Oggy, get some exercise for both of them and be up and moving like she has been wanting to for the past few weekends (the pregnancy is taking all of her energy and she is sleeping a lot - I understand completely - as best I can anyway).
Anyway, I will not say that she was "excited" to be woken up although I did let her sleep-in until nearly 9:00 AM - what a nice guy I am huh? She wanted to go but at the same time did not, all snuggled into bed. I loaded up the car and when I came back inside both her and Oggy were up and ready to go with me to find a place to fly - WOOT!
I decided to try this giant regional park that is only about 10 minutes away from the house and it ended up being a great choice. I honestly have no idea if they will every be assholes and kick me off of the property, but for now I had no issues flying there and it honestly was an amazing place to fly at. A little bit smaller than the soccer field that I met my friend at yesterday - well not really, but it is because of the fields being fenced off vs. a wide open soccer field.
I managed to get through 3 full battery packs and bring the helicopter home in basically one piece. I did have it get away from me pretty bad 2 times and the one time I brought it back it got a little bit out of my control, I over corrected and ended up slamming it sideways into the ground breaking off the tail rudder. I still had 1 pack left and managed to still fly it without the tail rudder for that pack and it was fine, just a little bit wobbly - no big deal. I will have to do some adjustments and order a new tail rudder this week as well as a few other extras, no big deal and probably only $40 worth of spares that will keep me going for quite some time.
Back to Oggy and Cicely, the both had a really good time and made it back to the area I was flying at right when I was on my last battery pack. Oggy had a really nice walk from what Cicely told me, he did a little off-leash as well and stayed right next to her in a healing position like he was taught when we were taking him to training many years back.
So all in all a great way to start the day for all of us and a lot of fun as well.
Grubbin'
All of the excitement at the field made us pretty hungry and Cicely was suddenly craving hamburgers. How perfect I thought - lets head home and drop off Oggy then drive out to Steak n' Shake again and see if we can manage to get a table this time.
So we drove out to Lemon Valley and pulled into Steak n' Shake only to see that it was pretty packed again - ugh, not looking good we thought but we still went inside and asked how long for a table for 2. To our surprise it was only a 5 minute wait, AWESOME!
Our little buzzer thing lit up and buzzed to alert us that our table was ready, probably in less than 5 minutes if I had to guess and inside we went. Sat down and looked through the menu but pretty much knew exactly what we wanted because we were studying the menu several days earlier.
I ended up getting a Jr. size brownie milkshake, horseradish single burger and sea salt and pepper french fries. Cicely had a Jr. size cookie dough milkshake, bacon cheeseburger single burger and salt and vinegar fries. The service and the food were both really good and our waitress even gave us a vanilla Coke to try.
Before leaving and paying our bill we had one item to order still. A plain slider burger for Oggy, he needs to try some Steak n' Shake too you know! Once we got that we paid our bill and headed home. At the house Oggy was sniffing the container with his burger in it like crazy, eyes big and nose going crazy. We popped the lid and let him sniff and lick the burger, then told him it was ok to take a bite. He did, then again and again...we had to slow him down or he would have chowed the entire slider in about 30 seconds. He ate about 1/3 of it and we saved the rest for him to have for dinner.
So all 3 of us had a nice treat for lunch and did not spend a ton of money doing so either. Heck the burger we bought for Oggy was only .89 cents, you cant really beat that. Oggy did not get a milkshake but we will make up for that tonight when he gets his usual scoop of Frosty Paws dog ice cream before bedtime.

It's going to be a night of killer TV tonight and I cant wait, it's driving me crazy to be honest - with both Dexter and Breaking Bad on I don't think I could ask for much more - well maybe some new episodes of Firefly, now that would be sweet.
For Breaking Bad, just like Dexter, it's the final season so it is a great night but a countdown to the end as well which is a bummer. We have some new shows that we have been getting into but there are not many that can compete with these 2.
Flip The Switch
With that it is time for me to turn off the light on this entry and finish up the rest of my Sunday. I still need to get my haircut and Cicely or Cicely and I need to get to the grocery store here pretty soon. Otherwise we will be cramming everything in at 10:00 PM tonight, no fun and no way to roll into a work week either staying up until midnight. We did manage to get a nice nap in for about an hour once we got back from lunch.
Kind of a bad thing to do after eating a big mean I know - but it happens and it felt great so I am glad that I did not fight it. Sunday afternoon naps have been becoming more frequent for us and I am going to enjoy them as long as I can, next thing you know we will have a little one in our lives and things like naps or running somewhere whenever we want will be a thing of the past.
What a great day all around, I am a lucky guy!
Photo: My Blade 130x sitting out in the AstroTurf of the field at the end of the day. The tail fin rudder is broken in the photo but you cant tell because I sort of propped it up under it.
