Cicely had a show today from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM so she was up getting ready so it gave me another excuse to get up so I could visit with her for a little while before she left for her event. She even found time in her rush-rush mode getting ready and getting everything packed up to make us our breakfast shakes, damn is she amazing or what – I say yes, Yes she is very much so in so many ways!
Weather
So as predicted the weather guessers were actually accurate this week. The weather was around 81° by 11:00 AM and by 1:00 it was already in the 90's and the air conditioning was on full blast in the house. I won't lie to you, I am enjoying it for now, that is until it's like this every day. Then I probably will get a little tired of it.
Today the boys are racing out at the track, and it's going to be a hot one. I can still remember the days out there on the black asphalt with my race suit and helmet on - let me be the first to tell you it gets extremely hot, Especially waiting on the a, B, or C grid getting ready to go out for your heat. Although once you're in the race kart and doing your 2 warm-up laps before getting into configuration for the start you forget all of that.
I just hope everyone has a safe day, lots of first places are had by those that were not expected to, but more importantly everyone stays hydrated and makes it home to come back and do it at the next race. Good luck everyone!
Nano Nano
So after a decent amount of time spent on the simulator I finally charged up the batteries for the Blade Nano helicopter and took it out for some hovering practice. The first attempt did not go so well because I had the pitch servo setting set to "N" for normal when it should be reversed. This caused the helicopter to go straight up into the ceiling and whack it, coming back down to the floor. No damage done, but for some reason it would not do anything but push downward rather than take off - as mentioned the setting was on "N" and should have been set to "R" - DUH!
Once I figured that out I ventured back out and went for another try, this time in the back yard on the patio to give myself a little more room to practice hovering and regain control when things got out of control. I am happy to report that after 10 packs I did not break any parts and actually flew pretty darn good for a first flight. It was a little breezy out so the smaller heli's like the nano are really affected by it so in a way that was good practice as well, although I had to really be on my toes. The little gusts of wind made the thing change direction or altitude extremely fast.
I look forward to hopefully flying it again tomorrow and working on my hovering. I am mostly focusing on "tail in" hover at the moment, but in the simulator I have been practicing all the orientations. Problem is, in the back yard there are a lot of obstacles that I have to really keep an eye on - things like the trees, fence, lattice's and so on.
That's A Wrap
All-in-all it was a really nice day off work. I managed to get some flying in, take a nap for about 30 minutes, watch a really stupid movie called "Trailer Park Boys" (don't waste your time with it), play my bass for a little while and try out the new effects stomp box that I bought last week and so on. Now that Cicely is home from her sales event it's prime time to relax and hang out.
