Today is no different from the looks of my calendar. It's starting out with 2 hours of meetings as well as a training class 1/2 hour after I walk through the door. Once out of those it's smack dab I to a team lead meeting to go over the current happenings and upcoming events.
Finally when I get back to my cube and prepare to settle into my normal day to day I first need to go over a small stack of resumes that we just got in. Super important so we can get the interviews done and fill the req's for our last position to be filled. The last guy we interviewed accepted our offer on Wednesday. So that is one seat filled, one to go.
Oh and it's flag day, I had no idea nor do I have a flag to fly. Well actually I do have a small cheap U.S. one that has been hanging in the garage for over 10 years. Then there is my Croatian flag hanging in my office at home. That counts right?
Ring Ring Ring, Inmate On The Phone...
I missed a phone call today but had a voicemail that it was some company that routes calls for inmates at the local prison! I don't know anyone off hand that is staying at a state hotel so I was a little thrown off by the message.
Even worse was the fact that the first thing that came to mind was "how did so and so from school manage to get my cell phone number?". Pretty sad I know, but I did have a few buddies that it could very well have been.
While talking to my step mom this morning the subject came up and I told her about the strange call / voicemail. From what she told me you are not supposed to call those back as its some sort of scam to verify the number called etc. (she works for AT&T and has dealt with this many times in the past I guess with customers calling in reference to it).
Ahh things like this is just another reason why I cannot wait for Apple to implement the call blocking feature that they said will be in the next iOS update 7. I always thought that was a telecoms side feature since the call is already routed by the time the phone sees it, possibly apparently not if they are adding it. Lets just hope that the phone will not still ring only to immediately block the number - that would get annoying fast, nearly as fast as the unwanted call itself!
Break
Peace-out time for this post. I need to get some work done while I can. I looked ahead to next weeks calendar and it's going to be crazy-ass busy, meeting / appointment packed week again, boo!
Photo: Privacy screen close-up over here in cubeland. Thought it looked cool and prolly what the inmate that called me sees daily, his/hers is just not as nice nor does it provide privacy.
