Sparks Marina; Jet Ski Pro Racing
Today from 11-2 as well as tomorrow the Sparks Marina where we walk Oggy during the summer months is hosting the Hydro-Turf jet-ski pro races tour. Should be a pretty cool event and I think that it is the perfect place for jet ski racing and even freestyle events. A couple years back they had a wake board event there and while it was cool I felt that it was a little bit small for the event, mainly because there is not enough area to disperse the choppy water run-to-run.
Last summer they also had the micro size boat races there. It was a pretty cool event as well and there was more than enough space for the racers to get their boats up on plane.
I know that the races today will probably make me want to get back into jet skis or jet ski racing but anymore everyone is such a fuckin' whiny little bitch about them that it's hard to find a place to go enjoy running 'em like we use to back in the day. Now you need to spend 10-20k to get a couple sit down models on a trailer that are legal at Lake Tahoe and most reservoirs in the area.
We us to mainly go to pyramid lake which is part of the Paiute Indian reservation and they were much more lenient. You simply had to have a permit for either the day or the season to run out there and that was totally fine. The reservation was always easy going as long as you followed their minimal rules.
**Update: Wow what a great event they put on at the marina for the jet ski races today. You could get up as close as you wanted to the racing, short of being in the water, and it was free as well. There was a really good turnout of both fans and racers across 11 or so different classes based on either weight, age, motor, type of ski (stand-up or sit down), or a combination of those.
I am really stoked that we went and checked it out and that the event came back to the area for a second year. I look forward to the Hydro-Turf pro series coming through our area again next year!
X Games
Back home I am going to watch the X Games that are being held over in Germany this time. I love watching the step up and the big whip competitions. It's friggin' crazy how vertical those guys get on the step up launch to be able to clear the bar, then it's basically a ventricle drop after and a big impact on not only the suspension but the riders bodies.
This year is even cooler because my step cousin, Justin Soule will be competing in one of the events. I don't think it will be in big whip or step up but more likely one of the racing events if they have something like the desert and enduro style racing he does. I believe he still rides for factory Kawasaki as well which is really cool! Best of luck to him and all of Team Green for a gold filled X Games 2013!
**Update: The race was postponed until most likely tomorrow due to weather. I am hoping that I will be able to catch it tomorrow.

Garage Prep
I need to now get the garage ready to be painted next week. I was going to buy a sprayer but the reviews say most are shxt, leak and clog. The better models that I would want to have and actually keep are in the $300 to $800 price range which is a little much for the occasional painting project that I might do.
So because of that I am considering just renting a smaller airless model from Home Depot and using that. This way I am only looking at $100 or so for a couple days of rentals - not bad, but sucks that I will not own it after the project as I otherwise would.
Dry Off
That does it for today, it's a beautiful day out but almost too got to be able to enjoy it. After the marina we headed over to Spiro's sports bar and grill to get some Greek food for lunch - sounds weir but it really hit the spot! All we had before that was a mango Italian ice and it was awesome, even Oggy enjoyed a few licks to help cool him down. For some reason he won't drink water until we are home. It scares us that he will overheat so anytime we can get a little something in his system to hydrate we do.
Have a great Saturday, and if you are in the middle of a heatwave like we are - stay in the AC, if that is not an option then be sure to stay hydrated!
