New Show
Last night we started watching a new show called "House of Cards". So far it seems pretty interesting and something that we will be able to get into even though most of the time we are not huge fans of political themes shows. Luckily while heavily doses with that theme it still has an underlying storyline that is interesting.
The positive-negative is that it helps to solidify ideas we all have about the manner in which this country is run, all of the lies, deceit and back alley deals that happen. Most all deals are for an individual or small groups benefit, rather than the greater good of the citizens as one could ignorantly hope for.
I think we are planning to stick with it and see if it catches on to become something we look forward to. Otherwise there are plenty more to check out now that Eureka is finished for good.
Little Warmer
So it's finally a little bit warmer out but I am still wearing a hoody of some type most everyday, in the mornings at the very least. It's not a bad idea to have one on hand anyhow as cold as my new cube location seems to be. It's supposed to hit the mid 70's today according to the weather guessers. Not quite as warm as it usually is but our area is always strange when it comes to weather. It's the reason they say "if you don't like the weather, wait an hour" as it usually changes in some manner.
Awesome Dinner
So we are on day 5 of the virgin diet and it has not been too bad so far. I mean I dealt with food allergies for most of my life, so eliminating things for 21 days then slowly reintroducing them is not really that difficult. Cicely on the others and has never had to watch what she eats so its been a little harder for her. I will say that she has been doing friggin' amazing. Super hungry and not feeling 100% a day or so but otherwise she has kicked ass so far.
On that note last night she made an awesome dinner for us. Started out with a big bowl of "made from scratch" sweet potato soup, garnished with parsley and topped with avocado. Then some organic, air-chilled chicken breast (our usual staple actually) with a side of this couscous mixture she made with everything from grape tomatoes and kalamata olives to parsley and garlic for seasoning.
I realize it prolly sounds pretty simple but it was awesome. The best part is that there was plenty left over so I get to have it for lunch today as well, woot!
Slide Home
Ok I got the signal from my coach to steal 3rd base and take this entry home for the win. Lots of work ahead of me so I don't walk into chaos next Tuesday after the long weekend. No big plans this weekend other than a friend / coworker coming over on Monday to fly helicopters for a couple hours.
Have a great but safe holiday weekend if you are lucky enough to have 3 days like us to spend however you choose.
