Rando
So I downloaded this new iPhone application on Saturday that goes by the name Rando. It's actually a lot of fun although I feel like the user base is really small at the moment and if it does not start to grow soon it will become stale.
Ok so what is it? Basically it's a photo sharing application with strangers all over the world. You launch the application and are presented with a circle that will end up being what the receiver of the photo views. Taking a shot and uploading it to the world buys you a "credit" so-to-speak and adds a small grey dot to the upper right of your screen. When another user does the same thing your application will at random grab a photo that has been uploaded and at which time your small grey icon turns red to alert you that you have a photo in the queue to view. A quick down-swipe of the screen refreshes your view one photo at a time.
I know it prolly sounds really simple but it is actually a lot of fun receiving photos and if you have your application setup to receive alerts you will be notified if your photo was delivered and most times where in the world the user is at. Plus if the users choose to share his or her location data you can tap the photo you receive and it will flip-transform into a circular map to show you the origin. Some users choose to not share that data as I did initially but it takes a lot of the fun out of it so I quickly turned it on after sending 2 photos or so.
My initial thought was that like apps of the past that are similar to Rando you would get a lot of cock shots, boobs and so on. So far it's been great and I have seen nothing of the sort. Some shots are pretty ho-hum - like a white wall or a shot of the hardwood floor in their home, but again that is the idea - to be random and share the randomness.
I have received photos from east to west coast, Seoul Korea, Croatia, France and many other places around the world. The craziest thing is how similar the world actually looks through simple circular cropped random photo.
If this sounds like your thing, or even if it doesn't, you should check it out. It's free and only requires you to set up a quick account with an email and a password. Cool stuff, it will be interesting to see where it goes from here - my understanding is that its still in its infancy. I found myself using it much more than a micro-video type app like Vine for example - although it is cool as well. I just find it much harder to find an interested quick video vs. a quick shot from the camera.
Lumber-jock
So real fast I have to share some hysteria from this morning. Driving to work there was a guy running for his morning exercise I presume only he kicked it up a notch this fine Monday morning. The friggin' guy was carrying a big ass log, like an oak-round piece of firewood. I mean really people, is that necessary? Are you working out or trying to make a statement?
The first thing that comes to mind for me is that he MUST be a cross-cult member because they are they ones that do all the random shxt like that. Don't get me wrong, they are in great shape as was this guy but a log?
The only thing I could come up with was that his buddies told him how awesome it is to go for a run with a big dog and he mistakenly heard it as "big log" and apparently went for it first thing today!
Stretch
Alright back at it - time to give this Monday a few more jabs and an uppercut or two so it does not bite me in the ass on Tuesday. Should be a pretty good week from the looks of it. Only extra thing on the schedule so far is a quick doctor appointment follow up on Friday. Have a nice Monday!
Photo: My current bass amp, not too big and not too small but sounds great. I rarely turn it up past about 4 anyhow or it's friggin' screamin'!
