Eye Doctor, Finally

So I continue to get email reminders from my eye doctor that I have not been in for an appointment, or more importantly an eye care exam in over two years now. Honestly I knew it had been a while, I was not going in on purpose mostly because there is something about going to the eye doctor that I have never liked.

Maybe it's because the eye doctor is one of the few that you are tested, then graded on your performance afterwards. There are many variables involved to be honest and for me those seem to all surface on the day of the appointment, although this could be the same for most others. It seems to be the day where the evening before I was unable to get to sleep or my eyes are bothering me that morning more than usual because of some random allergy that decided to kick in.

For all of these poor excuses, I have not been going to my checkups as I should be annually. I know that I could see better if I wore my glasses that they prescribe me, but I can't get myself to wear them. I've tried getting prescription sunglasses in lenses that I really like and frames that are the Oakley brand. I've tried many things, even various types of contact lenses and related and still no luck. This is no fault of the doctors, it's all on me because I would rather not wear them. I have not had to for my entire life and asking me to now is more difficult than it may seem.

If it came down to it and I had no choice but to go to the eye doctor to get lenses replaced or to renew a contact lens prescription I would do it. Especially if it was to continue to drive a car or be able to read a book to Zoey, those kinds of things I would do it in a heartbeat. But for some reason, to simply make things just a tad clearer it has never been worth the hassle for me as strange as that may sound to most. Especially for anyone that would love to have a pair of new glasses or a first pair.

As mentioned, today will be the day of testing my eyes and on the plus side of things I don't have to get them dilated for the tests. They have a machine now that is able to do the scan without the dilation. When that has to be done I not only have to go to the appointment later in the day so that I can go straight home after, but I more times than not end up with a headache for some reason. There is an additional fee of $35 to use this technique this time and to me that is money well spent.

Cross your fingers and toes for luck and hope that there is nothing odd going on in my eyes tomorrow would you please!? I have had vitreous floaters in my eyes for many years and I guess I always worry that they will end up being the beginning to something else so I get a little worried when they are looking around in there.

So that will be my Tuesday, hopefully you are doing something more interesting than I am, and if not well, I am sorry to hear that and I for one will be sure to cross my fingers and toes for you as well and hope that you have a great day, good results with whatever it is you are taking part in. Otherwise, this is it for me and this entry. I will throw more letters onto the screen and see where they fall tomorrow, same URL, same lack of engaging content.

Photo: The neighbors roses are blooming like crazy this year. Must be a combination of the heat and rain. I know it's making the lawn grow like crazy along with the rest of our yard. The negative are the mushrooms that pop up because our soil is crappy at absorbing water.
