DMV; How To Waste An Entire Day

Today my plan was to go down to the DMV and get things done for my driver license renewal, change over to a real ID and that sort of thing. A guy that I work with came in yesterday and it took him just over two hours to get everything done and out of here.

When he told me this I was thinking 'holy shxt' does that suck, I hope that it takes me much less time than that because I have a lot I would like to get done today besides sitting at the DMV waiting for a number to be called.

As I sit here right now in an uncomfortable plastic chair I would love to have a two hour wait! Unfortunately when I checked in at the desk they told me that I am looking at approximately a four hour wait if all goes as planned right now. Um, WTF?!? Who do I need to slip a $50 to, to get moved up in the queue a little more, I will happily flip a $100 bill to be able to get into the top ten. My day and time is worth much more than that.

Human Race

We are a really wild and crazy race in many ways and not so much in a good way all the time. What I mean is the amount of people down here with problems and trying to figure out ways to work the system is crazy. This place, the DMV, is probably 75% other than English speaking individuals or people that are Caucasian. I don't mean that in a racist way by any means. Just an observation of the crowd.

Seems every single person has an 'issue' of some sort, the government trying to 'keep them down' or they are sharing stories, tips and tricks as to how they are getting more money for disability or related. It's crazy to hear it first hand although we all know that it goes on.

I guess on the bright-side of things it gives me insight on what everyone is doing while I am at work busting my ass, paying my tax dollars, doing what I am supposed to. The positive is that once I am done today I will have the latest ID that is required after 2020 and federally accepted as an official ID and will not need to do a renewal again for eight years. That is great news to hear, I would like to never come back to this place.

Common Theme

From what I can tell it seems that I am dressed completely wrong as well. If you are male the dress-code seems to be raggedy jeans sitting way too low on your ass or huge baggy shorts. The other option is to have shorts more times than not anyway) and then a shirt that is at least a 3 to 5x  the size that you should be wearing. Never clean, always some nice burger or otherwise greasy stain on the portion of their gut poking out.

Yea makes me sound like an asshole, maybe I am and I am okay with that. I think it's just that people don't give a shxt what-so-ever, well unless they are not getting what they thing they deserve to be getting even if they are not deserving of those things.

Now Serving, So They Say

Anyway, that is about enough out of me today, maybe I will play a game or something to pass the time so long as I dong manage to waste all of my battery. I am getting hungry as heck already and it's only been around thirty minutes so far that I've been waiting.

Photo: Well I did finally make it out of the DMV after just over three and a half hours though not without a quick scare. I received the text message that I had an approximate wait time of four minutes left when I looked up at the board and watched the system crash right before my eyes and reboot Windows. Yep I thought I was screwed for sure, thankfully my number came up a few minutes later, though more than four. I am just happy to be done with that exercise for another 8 years!
