Kiddo's Better Today

Late yesterday afternoon we, well Cicely, received a call from the daycare that Zoey's temperature manage to climb back up to near 100°, so it was a courtesy call as the next temperature ready, if over 100.7° she could be sent home for the remainder of the day. Policies also state that if they are sent home for most things like diarrhea or projectile vomiting they have to miss the following day as well. I don't remember if that is the case with a fever or if it was only in place during the norovirus outbreaks that were happening last month.

No matter, she was really unhappy all afternoon they said and she was not really that happy after school either to be honest. Normally she is really happy to see us and to go home. She was happy to see us so that's good, she was happy to get home - again a good thing, but once home you could tell she was being bothered by something.

I checked her ears after my bike ride and they looked good, just waxy, which I hear is not necessarily a 'bad thing' for kiddos to have because it protects them from germs and infection.

When it was dinner time she was not interested in eating or drinking so Cicely did not force the issue. Instead let her get down and play for a little while. This wore her out and she was asleep soon thereafter and for the remainder of the night until she woke up crying at five in the morning, waking Cicely, not me, I slept right through it.

No temperature though according to Cicely, she only needed help finding her binky and to get a little lovin' from mom. Both of which she received until it was time for a tired mom to wander back to bed for an hour or so.

Weather

According to the weather guessers we were supposed to have major thunderstorms and rain today as well as the usual flash floods that come with them as our soil and sewer systems cannot handle an abundance of rain or fast melting snow for that matter.

As I type these few lines it's nearly three in the afternoon and we have had no weather to speak of. Quite the opposite actually. It's been calm, dead calm and overcast which is great weather for cycling to be honest. I'm hoping that this means I can hop on the bike after work and go for a spin.

Even better, if Zoey seems to be feeling up to it her and I can grab the trailer and I can go for a spin while she goes for a ride in the bike trailer. It's nearly the same amount of time and I only gain a few hundred feet of elevation going on my own ride when short on time after work because I stay closer to home.

Almost the same amount of miles as well, actually I do four to seven more on my own but it's still awesome to be able to go with her a couple times a week. Even more when Cicely goes along with us although she's been so tired lately that I have a feeling she will skip tonight if we are able to go and instead get some much needed and deserved rest.

Caught Up

With that I think that's all that is really going on today. I'm lying of course as the day has been a little beyond crazy similar to yesterday in that manner. All managerial stuff and all part of the job that I've happily accepted.

I am fine with it as well although it feels as though I've accomplished little to nothing at the end of most days or weeks only because I have little to nothing to actually show for my efforts. Again, all part of it and par for the course. I guess that is a measurement of a successful week, a team that is busy, content and has the necessary direction to do their job and do it well. Okay, looking at it that way I will take it! On with my day, seeing what obstacles need to be removed or adjusted, bye!

Photo: Thankfully this is not how I feel about all of the meetings I am in through-out each week although I know that some do feel this way, depending on the amount of work they have on their plates and so on. Some companies I'd imagine do fall more into this category. No matter, I thought that it was a funny photo for today since I have nothing else to offer.
