New Apple Watch On Its Way

So a really quick update on my Apple Watch I was talking about yesterday or maybe the day before in my entry. I had noticed a scratch and a chip on the underside that I have no idea how it could have happened or when. I would like to know because then I could more easily avoid whatever I may have done the next time.

I chatted with Apple support this morning before work and within 20 minutes they had me all setup with a brand spanking new watch. Identical to the one I have on and I don't even have to give mine up for any length of time what-so-ever. They ship me the new one, charge me for it as a 'hold' just in case I do not return mine to them.

Once I get the new one, I drop mine into the mail in the provided packaging and it goes back to them. I should have the new one by the end of the week or first part of next week at the latest if they don't deliver on Saturdays.

Granted I do have the AppleCare+ plan that I always purchase and have never had to use that I can remember for any of my devices. This time it more than paid for itself in the form of convenience as well as the fact that I am getting a new one and not being left without one during that time frame. Most times you have to ship the item back to them, they then inspect and then take care of repair or replacement from there, ship it back and you are good-to-go.

Even then I hear that it takes only five to seven days which is not bad what-so-ever, this time I simply did not want to be without it is all. For not wearing a watch for over 20 years, I have gotten use to wearing one more and more. I don't use the features much because I feel that the exercise one specifically, is crappy at the moment and my Fitbit kicks its butt.

They will continue to improve I'm sure. For now, I will save the battery life and not use that feature, no big deal. The other features of the watch are awesome and I think they will only get better if/as they come out with newer models. Hopefully a thinner model, that would be really cool. I mean this first generation one is not that bad at all, though if it were say 1/2 the thickness that would be even better and make it less likely to get whacked on stuff. Same thing with the piece that cracked and chipped on mine.

If they were able to make that more flush or covered with something stronger than the plastic material it would be great. Otherwise I will continue to take the watch off if I am doing anything where I might mess it up, bang it against something and so on. A little sucky to have to do that but the price you pay for this sort of technology.

I mean if I had my TAG Heuer watch that I like and spent over 5k on it and something happened to the face or otherwise I would be in the same boat I'm in now and have to get it fixed or deal with it. Okay so enough about that, I was only going to say how happy I am with the Apple support and AppleCare service in general and I ended up going on and on. No matter, thank you Apple for standing behind your product and having such solid customer service and employees.

Busy Once Home Last Night

Got home last night and did the usual dumping off all of my stuff, greeting Oggy and giving him some scratches behind the ears in an attempt to get his leg to jiggle or at least give him some lovin' that he needs and deserves after a long day at home alone.

Next we dive into the grabbing of books nightly routine, well Zoey did the grabbing of books, my job is to wait for her to find what she wants, decide where she'd like to sit. I then sit on the floor and make a comfortable spot for her on my lap. I then read them as she gives each to me and in the order she'd like them read to her.

More times than not we end up getting through only the first couple pages. We then jump around based on what is interesting to her that day. Sometimes it's the pages with animals, other times it's the particular book she is in that determines that. If it's a sensory book then she may be interested in the soft fuzzy touch of an item or the rough texture of another - cool stuff!

Yard Work

For me it was a crazy evening because I had to do poop patrol in the back yard, followed by picking up and obvious sticks and related as well as pulling weeds that may have popped up since the last time that I mowed.

Next it was the 'great idea' to trim a few of the lower hanging branches on the trees in the backyard. I should know better than to do this, I can never stop at just a few branches. I did manage to stop myself after only a tree or so instead of all four of them, though they all really need it.

It was starting to get dark so it was time to do the mowing before it got too late. Thankfully my new mower has two LED headlights so I was able to see my path perfectly. For a feature I thought was little gimmicky when I bought the mower it has turned out to be very cool and allows me the freedom to mow much later in the evening or if I get 'caught with my pants down' and end up mowing too late or forget that it's lawn day.

Anyway, once all of that was done it was time to head back inside for dinner. Cicely made this awesome panko breaded chicken breast, yum! It was still cooking and she still had to feed Zoey so I took the opportunity to vacuum the entryway from the garage since I tracked a bunch of grass clippings in with me.

Well one thing led to another and I ended up vacuuming the entire house, doing the extension pipe thing to get in all the nooks and edges as well. I will say, that was almost more of a workout than mowing the lawn!

Not sure if it's our vacuum and I need to get a new one (even though that commercial about the Dyson with the ball is f'n annoying) it's probably a really good one. We've considered it in the past but they are really expensive and ours does still work so we just keep using it. I mean 'expensive' is a relative term really with appliances and related.

The vacuum we use now was 'expensive' when I originally bought it and we've used it for over 17 years. We have had to replace something on it, I don't remember what exactly - maybe it was just the belt or something like that and it was no big deal and only a few bucks. I do remember it being a bit of a pain in the ass to do, in the long run totally worth it.

Mellowing Out

Tonight should be a little more mellow, plus it's roasting hot outside this week, starting today! By the end of the week the weather guesser have said that it will be over 100, so I'm not looking forward to that if I am going cycling. That will have to be my motivation to get my ass out of the house early and not mess around and end up in the dry desert heat and end up in the hospital or worse.

We were going to do a family ride tonight but the weather is going to be a little too hot I think. Plus Cicely has a lot to do, well a lot that she wants to do with her projects. If we go, then she will be missing out on time to do that and I don't want that, she needs her time as well. So it should be a nice mellow night in comparison.

I think we will take Oggy for a quick walk after dinner and Zoey in either her stroller or her tricycle. Once back home I will change clothes after Zoey goes to bed and get out in the garage and on the trainer. That is a great thing about having a really nice trainer, if the weather is too hot, too cold or too wet I can still get a good spin in.

Photo: Speaking of night time, this was the view that Zoey and I shared last weekend when we went out for dinner downtown. She didn't know what to focus on while looking out over the city, so many bright lights, people and sounds. I think she had fun though!
