First and foremost, I just don't understand why the Blogger application for iOS sucks so bad. I mean granted it's free and fairly simple which is mostly good for something to blog or diary in, though it always feels buggy and incomplete to use daily.
For one thing I hate the fact that ever since the new iOS came out and the larger phones, or at least the iPhone 6 Plus anyway, I have not been able to use the location feature. To clarify, it does in fact pop up and if you select 'use location' it will in fact use one. What location? Your guess is as good as mine because the scroll wheel that should pop up, allowing you to select one does not appear, instead it's almost like its squished down and not there.
If that was fixed it would be a big help and seems fairly trivial for Google to take care of given their status and knowledge base at the company. Possibly it's one application they feel is robust enough and as good as it's going to get so it falls to the back burner.
The other possibility is that it works fine on Android based phones so they don't worry about it. The one thing I have not yet tried, at least that I can remember, is removing and installing the application again to see if that fixes it. I guess I've just been too lazy to do so and really I should to put the possibility to rest or success once and for all.
This will not alleviate the issues with the text at times having random typefaces from the iOS to the web based views. I do not change them on either side so it's a hiccup in their software or the sync between the iOS application and the web based view. Thankfully this only happens on occasion otherwise it would be 10x more annoying.
Before you ask, yes I have in fact tested other applications and not only are there very few, again odd?!?! Those that are out there are not very good. There is one that looks amazing and I would buy and use in a heartbeat the problem is that it has only been developed for iPad. Talking to the developer in hopes that they make be releasing an iPhone version only let me know that they are not very happy with the AppStore in general for reasons they did not get into, mostly monetary returns would be my guess for effort put in. Reason being is they said it's not cost effective or profitable enough to try and build and maintain an iPhone version.
Oh well, this really sucks because the application is awesome looking and appears to be very well thought out, feature-rich and stable from what the reviews say. This was one other reason I had considered having Zoey's blog done in WordPress or possible Square Space. Their apps seems to be stable and feature rich though not without issues here and there as to be expected I suppose.
For now I will stick with Blogger as I have far too many entries not to at this point. The application for iOS by the name of Day One is amazing and exactly what I'm looking for in a journal, diary, daily entry blog. The one and only thing lacking is that everything lives on the iPhone and I want a web-based version as well should I choose to share, as I would with Zoey's site. Seems every direction has its own set of pros and cons that force you to choose the least painful direction. Unfortunately for me, that still seems to be the Blogger application.
Better Than Yesterday
Otherwise I'm happy to be back at work today rather than sitting on my ass in the DMV for four hours. That will be on the back burner for me until 2023 if you can believe that! I can and its the best news all week to be honest.
The amount of people in there that are 'working the system', 'looking to work the system another way'
Photo: This is another digital award that I will get for my personal trophy case. I used to always imagine the days I'd get some of the digital trophy badges and here I am earning them! Does not really matter to be honest for anything more than to make me smile when I look back at them. Plus like most things, it's cool collecting them and seeing how much progress I've made.
