Dads Day

Another Dads day in the books I guess and creeping in on my next birthday to be the next bigger event of focus, for me anyway. Event-wise, the Fourth of July will be the next holiday on the schedule. I think that we are planning to do a little extra time those days. Possibly extend the weekend by at least one day and hopefully we will be let out of work early the day before the holiday.

Wind

Not surprisingly, it's another windy day today as the weather guessers predicted that it would be. Yesterday it was not supposed to be very windy and it was the opposite. Around 1:30 PM the weather started to change and the wind began kicking up kicking up, only to do one thing for me, annoy the hell out of me and make it not something I wanted to be out on the raid bike in. Instead and as mentioned yesterday, I ended up going with the family to get some miles in and as a bonus, time with the family.

I ended up having a nasty blowout around 45 miles into my ride and because I was so close to home I opted to call Cicely and see if she would be able to come rescue me instead of me taking 20 minutes or so to repair the issue. It was a really big cut in the tire, one of the biggest I've seen to date so the Stan's No Tubes would not fill it in.

Weird because it seems to have no problem doing so no the demos that they show online. Maybe its because of the high pressure run in a street tire. Either way, they really need to work that out and make it seal the bigger holes more effectively.

On the plus side I was also able to get in a ride that was over 3 hours long. This was one of the challenges for this month and while I assumed it would take me a few weeks to do a ride that long because the obvious choice would be to California and back. Instead today I did more of the neighborhoods which was interesting and fun.

The only issue is that I will guarantee that is the reason I got the flat, well big ass blowout to be more accurate. It seems that I always get punctures, usually the goat-heads, now it seems to be that the new trend will be blowouts on that particular side of the valley to the North. I sure hope not!

Homes

We have been kicking around the idea a little bit of us getting a newer home, not so much newer as far as the model year but more of a larger house with a little more space for the three of us.

The topic is kinda bitter sweet to be honest because of the fact that we've been out there for a long time. It's not only our first home, it's our first home that we were married while living there, we had Zoey there, Oggy was our first and so far only dog there and on and on as far as that goes.

Money is always an issue of course as well. When you move up a little in the size of your home, everything changes. From the amount you pay for heating and cooling to the simpler things that can become big like the amount of money it costs to be able to have the home painted, fees for home owners associations and that sort of thing change quite a lot.

I really don't know to be honest with you what I'd want to do. There are so many things that I love about the house and so many things I would like to do to get us just a little more space to move around, store things and for Zoey to play. All of the unknowns do freak me out as do many other aspects of buying and selling a house. I guess only time will tell what we end up doing or not doing. Until then it's time to think about it and go from there, not making hasty decisions.

Dinner

Last night we went downtown to the Harrah's casino to have dinner instead of doing something like the Outback Steakhouse as we often do. We went to this place called The Hash House A Gogo. Big food, little prices. Nice change but massive amounts of food. Those leftovers will be my lunch today!

Happy Day

Otherwise, have a great Father's Day to all of the dads out there. I plan to do what I can to do the same. Mostly trying to avoid the wind that is supposed to get ugly crazy this afternoon. To me that translates into a bad day for being on the bike or anything related to that outdoors short simple things like mowing the lawn or mellow family rides.

I was lucky enough to get some awesome gifts from Zoey and Cicely for the day. I was given a custom coffee or tea mug that Zoey made for me at school. It's really cool and I love it. She also made me a really cool card that has her footprint on the inside that is made into a car, how cool is that? I think it's really cool. Cicely got me this really cool towel that you use when it's hot out. You get it wet, then pull each end and sort of snap it and somehow that kicks it into gear to get cold and cool you down as you wipe down your hot sweaty face, neck or whatever - very cool.

Great Father's Day all around and I am happy to be a dad. I was nervous and scared of the idea for a very long time and honestly other than a few smaller things it has not really changed life 'that much' other than some of the obvious things like a little less spur of the moment stuff, no big deal though, we can still do that for the most part so long as Zoey is not sleeping, heck even if she is, she is a really good trooper and would just get a little upset, then fall back asleep in the car.

Anyway, awesome day and I could not have asked for more from the family!
