Last night a little while after we got home I was taking a nap on the couch, previously considering going out and doing a few miles on the trainer. Knowing that no matter my final decision, I was beat and really needed a quick snooze session. I asked Cicely to wake me in15 minutes to half an hour and at that time I would decide what I was going to do.
Wake-Up, Wake-Up, Look
She did exactly that although closer to 45 minutes because she had been giving Zoey a bath. Unfortunately she woke me up in a manner that would've been suited for the house to be on fire. Thankfully it was with good reason. Our little Zoey was finally walking last night. We were so excited and so was Cicely that she was yelling at me, nearly giving me a heart attack jumping out of one of those really deep naps.
All of that drama aside, I would not have wanted it any other way. Her doing this was so that I would not miss Zoey's first steps, and I did not, thankfully! Zoey looks so darn cute walking, she concentrates so hard to make sure that she is not going to fall and even at times was sure to regroup and catch her balance rather than bail out onto the cushion of her butt and diaper.
Needless to say, I did not do any cycling last night on the trainer as I had been planning to do, though not planning to do - if that makes any sense what-so-ever. Instead I had a great evening picking up Zoey, getting her onto her feet and letting her walk towards Cicely or at the very least make it as far as she possibly could. She was getting tired, you could tell, plus she was not shy about letting us know that she was. No matter, we tried a few more times and called it a successful night!
Not Much Walking Today
This morning she would only do a few steps at best. I think she was still a little bit 'over it' from the walking that she had done last night. Plus she had her shoes on this time instead of only wearing the grippy slipper socks. From what I have heard from others, the grippy slipper socks or the shoes that are much softer and bendy work best for walking. The wider soled, stiffer shoes help them more with standing in place and working on balancing. Makes sense!
I guess we will need to get her a few more pairs of shoes now. This way she has those that are best for working on walking as well as those that she can wear when and where ever. Once she is walking good it will not matter as much what shoes she has of course. It's going to be a whole new dynamic now though and potentially more bonks on the head, scuffed knees and so on. I am not looking forward to those things happening to my precious little girl! All part of growing up though, I know!

Growing Up So Fast
Once again and as usual I am so very proud of you Zoey as is your mom. This week you started eating with a spoon, even dipping it into the food jar, scooping some out and maneuvering it to your mouth to eat. This is awesome and not as easy as it sounds to learn.
Next you started walking almost out of know where. Of course we work with you often, as does your teachers although the way it just sorta happened was definitely unexpected. Keep it up, I will be there to catch you whenever I can when you fall as will your mom! Love you kiddo!
Photo: Food truck that was in front of me when I got off the highway driving to work. I am not a big food truck fan though I am a fan of Americanized Chinese food. Given the opportunity I would try this one for sure.
