Last Day Of Staycation

Today was our last day off of work for our short stay-cation. It was another cold day too which is crappy for what is supposed to be spring break for everyone. As I mentioned the other day though, more times than not the weather has at least one or two 'last horas' before it allows the seasons to ever fully change. Well except for going into winter.

I can't think of times offhand where it suddenly went from crappy cold to warm weather again other than the occasional time that it warms up enough to pull the shorts back out and slip them on for a few more days. That is always welcomed!

Problem is, it's nothing like the opposite when it's winter that pops back up and we are all ready for warm days, sunblock, heading to the lake, BBQ's and all things in-between. I love summer days, not only weather because at times it really is too dry and hot for my taste although it's not like it's Arizona hot and dry. If so I don't think I would make it very long in that climate. I would be in the air conditioning or next to or inside the swimming pool as much as possible.

Not to mention that riding the bike would be a huge nightmare! If you did not get out and about early enough it would be so hot that you would end up with dehydration if you were lucky, otherwise you could end up with heat stroke and in a hospital bed recovering, no thanks!

Cycling

So I was able to go for a really nice spin today and I think I finally have my bike one step closer to being set-up the way that I want it and the way that I like it. From the shop, my bars were too far away just as I had mentioned they would be, my seat was the wrong type for my body and flexibility, again just as I had mentioned it would be and last, my seat was too high - and you guessed it, just as I had said that it would be.

I did switch out my cleats as well to a cleat that does not have the rubber grippy on the bottom for traction. I did not think this was going to work and I was actually a bit nervous about it but so far so good. I just have to remember to go 'heel down' when I unclip and make sure to push off a little bit different than I use to. What I really need to do is start practicing 'track standing' so I don't have to unclip at the stoplights anymore!

All-in-all it was a really good spin and I felt good the entire time. It was fairly nice looking outside, though once out in it, I immediately realized that it was cold and windy and what looked nice from inside the house was not so much. I did not let it get the best of me though and made sure to have a good adventure and make the best of it and it worked out great. Putting in 31.6 miles and a tad under 1,000' of elevation it was a great day in that respect.

Girls Afternoon Out

While I was out doing that Cicely and Zoey were out running around town doing some shopping, checking out the thrift stores and that sort of thing. They had a really good time from what Cicely was saying when she got home so that is good to hear. I guess Zoey was getting a little cranky toward the end and a little bit here and there. My guess as well as Cicely's is that she was getting hungry and once they were home and she had some dinner that seemed to be exactly the case.

Other Than That

Nothing else to rabble about today. Tomorrow its back to work and prepare to get things back to normal again after the long holiday weekend. Tomorrow is also the official day of the merger for my company and that is both exciting and scary in its own right. To celebrate this finally coming to an end and going through fairly seamlessly from what we can all tell, we are going to have my studio take the afternoon off and go celebrate. We will be bowling for a couple hours, having some pizza and beer and just blowing off some steam and getting to know one another even more.

Should be a good time as it usually is, unfortunately Cicely is not going this time because her studio, which is still under the same director as mine, will be doing something different. Although they will be going to the movies with us in May for the opening day of one of the Marvel movies, at least I think that's what it was?

Oh well more on all of that tomorrow and going forward! Hopefully Monday was not too hard on you and you made it through the other-side no problem! If not, chalk it up as one of those days and get ready to kick ass tomorrow!

Photo: Tons of flowers that smelled as good as they looked. I could not help myself and had to stop, smell them and of course snap a photo for today's entry. Thanks Home Depot for the free smells!
