So today is the appointment that I have been not looking forward to. Not that it's a big deal, but in a way it is. With my mom working in the dental field all my life until she retired I was never afraid of the dentist as some people are. Unfortunately over the past couple years my back teeth have become overly sensitive and I get zaps from the cleaning tools scraping and vibrating them. The woman that does my cleaning is aware of this and is always super careful and understanding about it, so it's entirely something in my head that I have to deal with really, nothing more.
I love the feeling when I leave and my grill is shines and new so this is a bummer and causes a lot of anxiety for me. As I type this I am in the waiting room, let's hope today god well, there is no need to return for fillings and so on. It seems there is more times than not, another thing I don't look forward to, the additional visits. It's all part of life and making sure I have choppers for the long haul though. I like to eat, so I need to deal with this little annoyance a couple times a year.
Time to put on my big boy pants and get this done. The next thing I know I will be out of here and headed on with the rest of the day, sounds great to me!
Post Appointment
Well the appointment went very well today thankfully and no issues whatsoever other than one time when I had a slight jolt from the scraping of the tool on the surface of my teeth. Otherwise my teeth looked great they said with no pockets or build up to speak of. There were also no issues with bleeding gums or related which is great because I floss and brush regularly.
All finished now for another 6 months when I go in to have another cleaning and then do X-Rays to see if there are any issues hiding out that we cannot see. I have a feeling there is at least one that they brought up last time so that may come up again. Otherwise I am good to go until October of this year when once again it will be cleaning time, cool!
Breakfast
Once I was finished at the dentist Cicely was outside waiting for me. She had dropped ZoBug off at daycare while I was getting my cleaning and came back to pick me up. Our original plan was to go drive karts at this indoor track and then go have breakfast or lunch depending on the time of day.
He ended up going and having breakfast because the race card place was not open until 11 AM. This meant we had a bunch of time to kill before leaving to go drive carts and breakfast was the perfect way to do so. Once breakfast was done we headed over to the antique shops to walk around for a little while, window shop and wear off some of the calories that we had just put into our bodies.
Breakfast was really good though. We went over to one of our three favorite places, which is actually one of the first places we ever took Zoey, called Greatful Harvest. I had a cup of regular coffee while waiting for my awesome cup of Aztec coffee to be made and brought over. The Aztec coffee is a mocha with cinnamon, cayenne, vanilla and other spices in it - not only is it good, it feels good on an itchy dry throat. Next up was Huevos Pupusa for my main course.
The Huevos Pupusa is made up of 2 fried eggs laid over a cheese filled Pupusa, black beans, sour cream, salsa and avocado. Then paired with organic potatoes, cubed and fried on the side. Sprinkle a dab of salt and a drizzle of catsup on the side for dipping and you are ready to rock! Good stuff and a great way to start any day.

Easter Bunny
Once done with breakfast and wandering around antique stores we killed more time before heading over to Zoey's school to watch her with the Easter bunny visit, get some photos and see how she does. So far she has not had any 'stranger danger' to speak of so I'd imagine the Easter bunny will be fine. Although she was a little Leary of Santa, mostly wanting to talk and get to know him.
Karts
Finally after everything else was said and done we were able to go over and drive karts for a few laps. Totally different than what I'd be doing or use to if I were in my own chassis with my own motor package but still something I needed to check off of my list of things that I wanted to do.
At $23 for 14 laps it's not the most cost effective thing to do, still much less expensive than a day at the track in my own kart when you count fuel, tires and any problems or broken parts. Then the time commitment to clean everything up in preparation for the next practice day or race.
Results
The racing was a lot of fun and not too expensive considering. Between the two of us we did 84 laps for $118 which works out to a $1.40 per lap. Probably sounds expensive to some, if you have ever raced anything you will understand that it's not that bad at all.
Considering it would cost me $200 - $300 for practice tires, another $70 to $100 for race fuel and oil as well as anything that breaks or has problems.
All said and done it was a lot of fun and I would be willing to do it again. The only real issue was that I got a little dizzy, I think from a combination of my cold and being hungry along with the rather right track layout, no matter, fun!
In the end my best time was a 26.313. I am not really happy with that, I wanted to be in the 25's at least to be honest. The thing is, as mentioned, it really depends on the luck of the draw which kart you get and of course your weight. If one adult weights 10, 20, 50 pounds less than another, drives crappier, they can easily have a better overall time simply from the weight advantage. Not sure how they handle that in their leagues.
Anyway, out of the 3 sessions, 14 laps per session this is the breakdown of my times. The last race was crap because my kart had such a bad push that I could not drive it in as deep and as fast as I wanted to or had been previously.
Race 1: 26.581 in lap #13
Race 2: 26.313 in lap # 9
Race 3: 26.901 in lap #13 (nasty push)
Photo: Zwift was cool yesterday when I logged on to go for a quick evening spin. In April fools day spirit they had all of us on Big Wheels in place of our usual road bikes, it was cool and unexpected.
