Hoppy Easter

Today is Easter Sunday and the weather outside is pretty much crap! I think that we had nicer weather on Christmas this past year, actually I am certain that we had nicer weather. Not really surprised to be honest, the spring weather is crazy around here as is the summer weather.

One day it can be nice and warm, overly dry and hot, cold and dry so you are chapped or dumping snow and rain. More times than not, as the old saying goes - if you don't like the weather, wait a few and the next thing you know the weather will be different. That said, there is no guarantee that it will be weather you like, though it will be different - beggars can't be choosers with the weather.

Egg Hunting

We made Zoey breakfast and let her play for a little while before taking her first nap of the morning around 10:00AM. While she was asleep we got eggs together and filled them up with goodies, then hid them, well laid them out around the house for her to find. This way when she woke up we could have her do her Easter egg hunt and play with her basket while enjoying sweet goodies.

The first goodie that she tried was a pink Easter peep. She was so into the peep candy that she did not realize she was standing up, she ended up standing the entire time which was around two minutes or so, for her this is a long time!

Zoey ate the peep and loved it, unfortunately she was pissed when the peep was finished and realized that there was not any more for her to chomp on. Her sugar high was kicking in and she was now super hyper and ready to rock 'n roll for the remainder of the afternoon.

Easter Brunch

Around 3:30PM Cicely's dad and step-mom, Kay, came over and brought us over Easter brunch which was awesome. We had all of the stuff that we could have wanted to have. We had spiral cut ham, potatoes Au gratin, grilled asparagus and croissant - it was awesome to say the least.

I had a nice big plate of food and it hit the spot! I could have eaten a ton more to be honest, I had to be on 'good behavior' and not eat with my eyes otherwise it would be holiday weight that I would have to work off as soon as possible. Otherwise once summer is in full force and I'm on the bike for my long rides or days that I venture out to do a route of climbing it will kick-my-ass big time.

When it gets to the point of cycling that you are carrying an extra pound or two around your waist, the amount of weight (usually in grams) that you save on the bike is cancelled out. So it's always easier to lose weight around the waist then spend hundreds or thousands to try and shed pounds on the bike. Plus it's much healthier for you to be leaner.

Cycling

Speaking of cycling, I was able to get in a good spin session before Cicely's parents came over. This not only felt great, it also made sure that I was ready to dump calories down my throat.

It's too crappy outside to cycle, I mean I have done it in worse weather to be honest, from pouring rain to slight snow, wind, heat or a combination of all of these throughout a single ride. There was one that I was so frigging soaked by the time I got home it was crazy. At the same time it was a blast and something I had never done. Well not since being an adult anyway. It was cool playing in the rain on a bicycle without a care in the world!

A Successful Day

So all said and done the day was a complete success for Zoey's second Easter. She was able to search and find eggs, have a new candy as well as eat a traditional Easter brunch. She did great looking for eggs, well except for the fact that once she had one or two in her hand she was content and ready to play with them. I had to be the bad guy and continue taking them away to get her to find more, there was a total of eighteen after all, which probably felt like twice that to her.

I hope she had a great day and enjoyed her second Easter! I know that we had fun spending it with her and we look forward to many more. As she gets older we can do even more with her and it will just get better and better until the day that she grows out of it. Those times will suck! Times of her life when she comes to us and wants to be a big girl and no longer have a big, wonderful, imagination about the world around her.

Instead admit that she knows what is make believe and what is not. What her parents do for her and what truly is magical. In my eyes, I think that she can have both. She just needs to let us know when and how then she can be a part of it all as well. She is such a little doll and such a smart girl that I can only imagine the things she will be capable of should she be interested and manage to keep her mind focused to accomplish  it. The ball will be in her court and I will always support her no matter how much I agree or disagree

Photo: The basket that Zoey's grandma and grandpa (Dan & Kay) brought over for her today. She really likes it, not only the glowing light up ducky, not shown in the photo is her bubble stick! Zoey was having a blast with Cicely blowing bubbles at her!
