Wasted Day

For the most part today has been a waste in terms of getting stuff done or doing anything exciting. We were up super early as planned and the weather has been in the 70's which is awesome since it's supposed to start getting shxtty as of tomorrow. Too bad the closest thing we have done to enjoy it is open up a couple windows because it was getting too hot in the house.

Cicely has been either on the phone or online all day trying to get her tax ID stuff worked out for her business license as well as getting photos and other media together for her shops distributor. I guess she has gotten a ton done, but for me it has been a day of waiting around to leave and take the fuzzy kid for a walk at the Sparks Marina. I don't know if its going to be too late by the time we get out of here or not, but we may still give it a go.

Flight Simulator

I did finally bite-the-bullet and ordered the Phoenix flight simulator so I can start learning how to fly the new helicopters that I want to get into as soon as I can. I think after talking to friends that it's the best way to get into it without spending a lot of extra money due to beginner mistakes and crashing. The only real issue I am having is getting the equipment to run the thing. My MacBook Pro is supposed to be able to but I need to run boot-camp, have a version of Windows on my machine and then an adapter to connect it to the TV.

I am considering getting an Alienware X51 slimline machine and be done with it. I know that Alienware gets a bad rap at times from the gamer community for being overpriced compared to what you could buy and build yourself but honestly there are a few really good deals on them on eBay that are new, unopened from the scratch and dent section of Dell.

I have no issues with those as they are generally in such good shape its nearly impossible to find the areas that are scratched and dented. Plus it would allow me to put the PC box in our media center vs. needing to put my laptop on the floor and connect a bunch of wires to make it all work. I dunno, one option is guaranteed to work, the Alienware option, but it would run about $300 more. Probably be worth it but I would not be up and running until mid next week. No rush really, but it would be nice to fly tomorrow when the simulator shows up in the mail.

There are a few slimline models that Best Buy stocks but I don't know if the built in graphics they use, referred to as Intel HD graphics would be able to allow me to fly without all of the settings turned down to nothing. That is no fun in my book, I don't mind cranking them down a little bit, but when it starts to look as though you are flying around in Minecraft vs. a nice looking flight simulator then I think its a waste of time.

Times Up

So for now that will be it for this entry. Gotta start to get something going otherwise I am going to really feel as though today was an awesome day off that I managed to waste sitting on the couch doing research on the internet. Never is that truely a "waste" but you know what I mean. No idea what I will do regarding the Pc yet either, maybe more on that tomorrow if I end up pulling the trigger and trying the Mac/Bootcamp route, or if I end up winning the auction for the Alienware X51 machine. Either way I may not be flying in the simulator until the following weekend, boo!

Have a great Friday and if you are going out celebrating don't be an ignorant asshole, get a cab or have a friend give you a sober ride home. There are much better things to be doing on a Saturday morning than sitting in a drunk tank or 6 feet in the ground. Peace out!
