Today I'm supposed to be off work enjoying nice weather. Unfortunately, as luck would have it, none of the above is taking place. The weather outside has been crappy since Wednesday and today is no different. The wind has been blowing and it has been raining on and off all day. Last night it was raining really hard and today it has been either sprinkling or raining hard.
Cycling
My original goal was to have time today to do a long, no pressure bike ride and get some sun. The weather is not playing nicely as mentioned so it looks like if I want to go for a ride, which I do, I'm going to have to do so on the trainer.
Not a big deal and at least I will be able to put some miles in on my legs and keep on keeping on. I was really looking forward to the adventure of cruising around town; wandering up, down and around streets I don't know and finding new places I had never seen before in the car. It's amazing how many things you miss driving in the car versus cruising around on a bike, it's addicting!
Nice Or Not
That said, even if the weather was nice today I think I would be stuck inside. Zoe is not having a good day again and has managed to develop a rash on the entire front of her chest and tummy. The rash had pretty much stopped there until she took her morning nap. When I woke her up from that her rash had moved slightly to the left side of her face. Then within a half an hour it was covering her entire face and her neck, between her shoulder blades and hairline.
We had a doctors appointment to take her in earlier today but Cicely and I decided against it thinking that the rash was nothing more than her body going through the final stages of the virus she was dealing with. Once we started to see it get a little worse and by the time Cicely got home from work and saw the rash in-person, we decided that we better take her in. We called the pediatrician again to see if they had any openings thinking that almost certainly we would not be able to get in because the one this morning was the only one available for the day.
As luck would have it we were able to get in and this time we will be seeing the actual pediatrician instead of the nurse practitioner which makes me feel a lot better. Nothing against the nurse practitioners as they do a great job and things they don't know they can reference back to the doctor and get additional information.
I would rather have the information face-to-face with the doctor. I am not saying that there is anything wrong with a pediatricians nurse practitioner because there isn't. It's more that I am paying for the doctors time and office visit and taking my time and gas to drive to the other side of town for the visit. Doing all of this requires about 1 to 1.25 hours of driving plus the appointment, so I want to see the doctor not the nurse practitioner.

If we were going in for shots or something that is different, when we need an expert opinion, I want the best that I can pay for at that time. I think I get that from my dad because he is the same way. If he's going to take the time and pay the money he wants to talk to the guy in charge so to speak. I can't blame him though and I can't argue with that logic.
Anyway, possibly more on all of this later once I hear back from Cicely after the appointment. She decided to go on her own because there was no real reason for me to go as well. Instead I am staying home trying to finish up a few things at work and then hear back from her what went on and what we need to do.
Cubed
As mentioned at the start of the post I was supposed to be off of work today. I decided to do a little bit of work so I would only have to take a half of the day of vacation time. It's now pushing 3 o'clock and I have been working almost the entire day and have had no time off. It's okay to a point because it's better than sitting in the cube at work and the day it's crappy outside as mentioned so it's not like I could be doing much of anything anyhow.
Alright Then
I'm going to go ahead and call this post done, stick a fork in it, put it on a big platter with some sides and barbecue sauce for dipping not that it needs it and serve it to the web.
I will add more to this once I hear back from Cicely unless there is nothing to report and the rash is little more than Zoey's body finishing out the temperatures she's been running the past few days. If that's the case then I may simply add it to tomorrow's entry.
Either way, hoping for the best and that my Zoey is back to herself, better sooner than later.
Photo: Picture of my Chipotle lunch today. Cicely was nice enough to stop on the way home from work and get me some tacos, it's hitting the spot!
