Just doesn't dissipated my new Apple Watch showed up last night and I cannot wait to open it. I brought the box inside set it down and ignored it for a good 30 minutes. Had I not there would be no way that I would hang out and play with Zoey as well as read books with her, I was too excited to dig into my new toy.
The Unboxing
Around 6:45 or 7 o'clock it was time for Zoey to have her dinner so this was the perfect opportunity for me to start the unboxing of my new toy!
The box that the watch showed up in was surprisingly heavy for its size. This honestly confused me a little bit, it's only a watch I thought to myself, why so heavy? Once I was in the box I realized that the packaging was a little thick with extra cardboard for protection when shipping, not enough to make It feel 'heavy'. Once in the box it was apparent that Apple put a little extra attention into the box itself. My guess is that they did this so that people could actually use the case again if they wanted to store the watch or have a place to put it nightly.
Overall the packaging was 'as expected' from an Apple product. It was fun to open and cool to see all of the things they had done to make it as interesting to open as it would be to eventually use the item within.
Once inside and everything unpacked, I did all of the syncing with my iPhone 6 Plus, installed and synced the applications that I wanted on the watch and then began setting preferences and related.
Battery
So far today the battery life has not impressed me that much so we will see how that goes. Right now it's nearly 5:30 PM so I've only been wearing it for a little over 8 hours. I have not used it very much other than when raising my arm and it turns on, which I turned off by-the-way in hopes to save battery.
Anyway with almost zero usage today I'm currently sitting at 42% battery life left. I guess this means that I could get another 4 to possibly 8 hours out of it, not sure. I will mess with the settings some more and turn off this one for keeping tabs on pulse or something like that. I guess it's known to save battery life but reduce accuracy of the fitness stuff. Because I use my Fitbit it's not a big deal for me how accurate that is.
Overall I am happy with it, will just take some getting used to wearing a watch once again. The nice thing is that no one really noticed it either. This is great to be honest, it's a pain when everyone and their brother wants to poke at stuff. I can only imagine my battery if so!
Okay that is all for today, time to go pick up my beautiful daughter and get on with the remainder of our day and evening. I'm sure this will mean reading the bubbles bubbles book a few more times as well, I love that part of the day!
Photo: My new Apple Sport watch sitting snugly on my left wrist. I like the weight it has to it, the size feels good as well. The band will take some getting used to, I may prefer leather or chain-mail style, not sure yet, can always add variations, I think they sell them as accessories.
