Temperatures Dropping

Today started out with Zoey getting up a lot earlier than expected and a lot earlier than she usually does on a Saturday morning. She still slept a really good amount it's just that I am usually up before her and Cicely. This way I can have some coffee, surf the web a little and catch up on news or social media stuff going on.

In the end it was a good thing she was up early and it forced Cicely to get up also. Cicely was able to get a bunch of decorations created for Zoey's birthday party as well as both of us doing a photo shoot in the back yard with her to try and get the perfect photo to use for her birthday invitations.

Invitations

After taking 25 to 50 photos along with a lot of burst photo shots to try and capture the best smile and pose we headed inside to see what we had on our camera rolls.

Cicely ended up having the best photo to use on her phone so that was the one we put into the invitations. Cicely went online to the website that I had found for the cards and put the photo in as well as the information as far as the day, time and related.

She setup the shipping so they would be here ASAP seeing that we waited until almost the last minute to order them. Now we need them to get here so we can send them out and make sure everyone gets them in time to make arrangements to be here if possible.

The only people that I think won't make it will be Cicely's step mom and her dad. They will be on a trip so we will have them over the following weekend or else on that Wednesday for her actual birthday. It should work out good so everyone can see her and so she's able to see family as well.

Cicely's mom is still planning to be in town as well so that will be nice for Zoey. I am not sure how it will go over big picture to be honest so that part I will play by ear when the day comes. No reason to spend anymore heartbeats on it now, I've spent enough energy on the topic this past week.

Cycling

Decided to go for a spin today as planned and was not expecting it to be as cold and as windy as it was! I originally considered cycling to work and back so I could approve one of my employees time sheets for last week that was entered late. I am glad I didn't.

Once I was out riding I warmed up a little bit as usual, though it was still really cold and I did not prepare for it with warm clothes like I normally would have. In the end I still pushed myself to put in just under 13 miles so I am content. I was planning to do a lot more although that was with the assumption that there would be warmer weather.

Weather

Speaking of the weather, the temperatures have dropped quite a bit from where they were at last weekend and last week for that matter. In the past week we are down almost 20° from where we were so once the sun drops behind the mountains it's cold.

Of course here I am complaining about the "cold weather" when normally around this time of the year I am happy if we get out of the teen-temps. Getting spoiled this year so if next year is a typical winter it's going to kick us all in the butt!

Last time we had a little bit of snow was when I think I hurt my lower back and it set the stage for it hurting the past few months off and on. I think that part of it is due to the extra ten pounds I have been trying desperately to shed. My back tends to be a bitch when it comes to the smallest changes.

I will do my best to enjoy the weather for what it is right now and go from there. Once summer is here I will be right there with everyone else whining about how hot it is outside and the increased cost to keep the house cool.

On the flip side we can take time to go to the lake with Zoey again. That was so much fun last summer! Even though I doubt she will remember it, I think she had a good time as well that day.

Photo: One of many Boulder clusters around the small mountain at work that the little squirrels live under. I don't know how they survive all winter. What's sad is when they do, only to get hit by a car in spring because of some jackass that's in a hurry or does not swerve to miss them, assuming they should be the ones to move. Be careful little guys!
