Cool, Football Is Over

Okay I get it people, the last few minutes of the game yesterday were crazy to say the least. I did not watch the game although I really did not have to. There is so much talk about it on Facebook, Twitter, the normal news outlets and even the radio station when I was waking up to the alarm this morning that I feel as though I watched every minute of every quarter of it.

I dunno I guess that is okay and I should just relax and let them be excited, bummed or disappointed depending on who they were routing for. I know I get into my racing a lot when watching it although I do not go on and on about it. Probably due to the fact that it's a much smaller audience as far as those that I hang out with at work and talk to about these things.

I remember when first getting Sirius XM radio in my car and the 3 month trial how excited I was because I would have access to the NASCAR network and be able to listen to the races, listen to the chatter before and after them as well as hear how qualifying went and so on.

This was short lived to be perfectly honest. While I did enjoy listening to it to a point there was so much other talk that did not really interest me or talk that was nothing more than them getting stuck on a random topic or female driver and things like that. I would get burned out quick so I don't see how fans can watch so much football all year.

No matter my hope is that by the middle of the week everyone will be mostly over it and we can move on to other topics of discussion. It's a big part of what people do so I get that they want to chat about it. What I don't get is why I'm the outcast because I went for a 26+ mile bike ride yesterday while they watched the game and pigged out.

Cycling

Speaking of cycling, it was an awesome ride yesterday. I was only able to put in just over 26 miles but it felt great. I kept my climbing to a minimum as well only because I am trying to get my stamina built up to do a Gran Fondo 100k this month. I was going to try for the 150k challenge and had to do a mind check that I may not quite be ready to pull off close to 100 miles this early in the season without it taking me an entire day to do.

Heck even the 100k challenge is going to be tough at just over 61 miles because I will normally do a few extra just to be on the safe side. The last thing that I want is to do a huge ride and have the GPS data be a tad off and come up short.

My plan is to do it this Saturday by getting up early and heading up to Verdi and back with a few little extra sections thrown in for good measure. The weather is looking to be nice and it may very well be my only chance this month of winter comes back in full force, not that it has really even started. We had snow one time so far and that was all the way back the week before Christmas!

As I always say I don't understand how the ski resorts survive with such small amount of snowfall. If it were only happening every few years that is one thing, this has been happening for the past 2 or 3 years.

Otherwise

It's Monday and back to the work thing that we do between weekends. The weekend was nice although short as usual. I think that we are in need of a nice 3 or 4 day weekend here soon. Those are awesome although I think we enjoy them much more when it's summer because we can take Zoey to the lake or do more outdoor things.

This year we really need to take Oggy out more like we use to and over to the Sparks Marina as well. He lives walking around there sniffing all of the bushes, marking his spots and getting exercise. We just have to be careful with him the first time or two out so he does not overdo it and hurt his heart or legs.

With that it's time to dive into my Monday. Have a good one and get the last bit of foos-ball out of your system mmkay! Season is over peeps, onward to other sports and activities.

Photo: Speaking of games, this is a really cool one of Zoey's new toys. It's a learn to walk, walker and a bunch of learning activities all in one. Really cool little toy and oddly enough one of her most frequently used.
