Holy crap was that a fast week or what!?! I am not sure how every one's week went and whether or not you had a 4 day week as well but it was great. The days flew by which was good and bad, though the positive is that we are that much closer to full days at home hanging out.
Weather
We should have really nice weather again today with temperatures hitting the low 60°'s. For the middle of February it's more like spring weather. Summer is just around the corner and if we don't get a few more days or weeks of moisture we are going to not only hear about it all summer long, we are going to be faces with drought warnings, weather restrictions and related.
As I have said in other posts, it's hard to imagine how the ski resorts are able to survive winters like this one. In all my years living in Nevada I can't remember a winter that was this mild ever. Sure we may have had a few nice days sprinkled in where it was 40° weather, the 70° weather we had last weekend though does not happen very often.
I guess the resorts are able to sustain when they are owned by the larger resorts in other states or countries for that matter. I am not sure who owns what to be honest, it's my understanding that many bigger resorts own several of the resorts in and around this area.
That does not help the little guys though. They rely on a good snow pack each year to get them through to the following year because most of them do not do anything during the summer months for income. Many of the resorts in other states switch over to mountain biking trails during summer.
Personally I think doing that or even downhill dirt skateboarding would be another revenue stream for them. Then during the good snow years they would simply not be able to open those activities until the snow melted, not a big deal big picture.
I also think about the shops around the area that rely on rentals, people up in the area stopping for food or drinks, hotels and everything in-between suffers from the lack of snow.
Selfishly, I am enjoying the weather and can honestly say that I do not want to deal with deep snow, shoveling, commuting to work in it, dressing with so many layers it's difficult to move and anything else I've missed. It would be awesome if our winters were always this way down in the valley, up in the sierras they still got dumped on with snow. How awesome would that be?!?
Health
Woke up this morning and my head was pounding like a flippin' bass drum with a jackhammer accompanying it. I have no clue why I wake up with these every week or two and it sucks. I feel nauseous and end up eating several Advil to try and make it go away as fast as possible.
Eating Advil is not the best way to start, end or anything in-between any day of the week though it happens. Today the Advil is not having much affect unfortunately and even as I write this entry my head is hurting.
My temperature is a little better than the last time this happened. I did not get any lower that 95.1°. Last time it was a little sketchy because I was in the 94° range and it took a couple hours to bring it back to something that would be considered normal.
All that I can do now is start my day and work through it. Hoping along the way that it goes away at some point and I can get on with things. Until then it's a battle of avoiding high pitched noises and really bright or reflective things.
Photo: Just wondering how long this will sit in the front of my neighbors gate. My guess is a while based on all the other crap that ends up in that spot or in the same spot on the opposite side of the fence which blows over to our yard (front and back) to which they just put right back in the same place.
Actually this may be the one that was broken and they were trying to have the waste management guys take away? More than likely they left it. They are not supposed to take that sort of thing was my understanding. Same goes for overly large items. In many areas they are giving reddens coupon books with say 10 coupons inside. They can use one per 'big load' of trash until they run out. Not sure what happens after they run out.
I have heard rumor of people simply taken their trash to areas that don't have the rule or coupon book. This is bullshxt if you ask me.
