Supposed To Be 70°, WTF

It was supposed to be a really nice warm day out today, reaching near 70°. That is crazy warm for this time of the year in the valley, normally we are sitting in the 30° and 40° range and that is if we are in more of a warm weather trend!

Honestly not sure what is going on other than the hippies will blame it on global warming and fossil fuels. Could it be that? Sure it could although at the same time to assume we are so powerful that Mother Nature or the earth for that matter can't or won't self cleanse if it needs to is big headed on our behalf.

Cycling Plans

My hope is that the weather does whatever it wants other than a huge dumping of snow the next couple days and then gives me a really nice day on Saturday so I can attempt my 100km bike ride and earn my bad ass new cycling jersey for doing so. Not to mention even though it's not 1:1 the same color of my new bike, it's blue and really close which is cool.

Speaking of which I ordered my new lid yesterday (helmet). I wanted to get this blue and black version, unfortunately it's not available or at least not for a few more months. A bit of a blessing in disguise honestly because I was torn between getting that one or the matte black one. Now the choice has been made for me and it will be the matte black model.

Same helmet otherwise, only a lighter and more expensive model than the current one I wear. They are both Lazer brand, my current one is the Helium model and is awesome. Too bad it's red, white and silver. It would be okay to wear honestly even with the color mismatch. I wanted to try the more expensive model this time mostly because of the additional protection first and foremost.

Secondly the choice was made because it's about one half the weight of my current helmet. Granted we are talking in grams here but any amount of savings is awesome in my book. Especially when it's on my head. My neck and shoulders take enough abuse on long rides as it is and that's even when it's not windy outside or over bumpy terrain.

Plane Crash

So there was a bad plane crash today in Taiwan. The airplane was taking off, made it up to 1350' altitude when the left engine blew. It was a prop style plane so losing an engine is not a good thing obviously. I am not sure if it's just as bad with a jet engine or not. I would imagine so, although I thought they had something in place to safeguard that.

The airplane starting going down as though it was making a hard left hand turn, because of the engine that went out, and was going right over a highway that was thankfully not populated with a lot of cars at that time other than with this minivan taxicab.

Unfortunately the taxi was struck by the left wing and taken out because of it. No idea if those in the taxi were injured or worse as the focus is on the plane. Actually I just heard that the driver of the taxi crashed, had a mild concussion otherwise I think okay.

My bigger problem with the entire event, short of those that were injured or killed is that the media is essentially looping the crash over and over analyzing every little detail as though they are experts. I think their ignorance is disgusting.

On That Note

I'm going to go ahead and call it a day now and get home, relax, maybe go for an indoor bike ride and enjoy the evening. School tomorrow at work so half the day will be shot although it's worth it.

Photo: Raindrops all over the car. It's about all the moisture we have seen in quite a while and I will admit that I am okay with the lack of snow shoveling.
