Happy Valentine's Day

Okay first things first I wanted to say happy Valentine's Day to my beautiful wife as well as our beautiful daughter. I don't know what I did in a previous life to deserve them both but I am thankful that we are all together and a family.

As far as the day itself goes I think that I have mentioned we don't have any plans to speak-of. More times than not, we don't do anything special for this "holiday". I think partially due to the fact that it seems to be one of the more manufactured holidays throughout the year. Sure, most holidays are anymore, yet Valentine's Day seems to revolve around things you buy more than any other, yes in its own right more than Christmas.

The focus is on how big of a bouquet of flowers your husband or wife sends you at the office. The size of the heart shaped box of chocolates or the dinner that evening followed by "intimate together time" in the bedroom. Yep I know, WTF does that mean and where the heck am I from?

I am simply trying to keep it a little more PG rated, my daughter might read this one day. If I were to go into detail about the crazy, wild and possibly even drunken sex that couples may have with wild lingerie, battery operated devices and everything in between just imagine how awkward it would make her feel reading this post!

Boxed Bistro Breakfast

Up early and having my coffee right now actually. I had one of the protein bistro boxes from Starbucks for breakfast. They consist of a round slightly thick bread thing that has raisins, a small pinch of purple grapes, 3 or so red apple slices, 2 triangles of cheese and I have never looked to see what kind it is. It's basically a very mild white cheese of some sort. Then there is a small packet of peanut butter which I usually put on my apple slices and last but not least a peeled hard boiled egg with a salt and pepper packet to season it up a bit.

Most of the time I eat the items as individual entrees because we are in a car and it's much easier to do. Other times I will attempt to mix and match though it does not work that great. Today I decided to separate everything and make more of a little sandwich with toasted bread and melted cheese out of the bread, cheese and hard boiled egg that I had sliced up. It was really tasty this way, much more than a bunch of individual cold items. Not that I can get used to it though, as mentioned more times than not I will be eating it on the go.

Then with the apple I was able to easily spread the peanut butter on each slice and enjoy. Of course making sure to share with Oggy as well. Apple only though because while they can have peanut butter they can't have nuts, never really understood that one.

The grapes were essentially my appetizer that I munched on while toasting my bread, making my coffee and so on. All things considered it was a nice little breakfast that will hopefully fuel me this morning enough to get out and do my 100km ride without keeling over from hunger. More on that later - hopefully stated that I did it and am glad to be back home resting!

Cycling

So real quick before I hit the hay for the night because yes, I am exhausted and my legs are weak and feel like I would expect them to if they were replaced with cooked spaghetti noodles.

Anyway, as promised I am happy, okay friggin' ecstatic that I am able to report that I completed the 100k ride today. Sure I had some issues with flat tires, my front derailleur not playing nice though in the end I was able to pull it all off and finish the challenge. Now I need to focus on the climbing challenge. After today's ride I think I will have around 18,000 feet of climbing left to do!

Photo: This is a photo of what I woke up to today. Yep after just shy of 4 hours of printing this was the amazing object that I was presented with.
