Four In The Morning

First thing this morning I woke up at my usual time and did not check my phone until nearly 7 o'clock. When I did I noticed that I had four missed calls and two voice-mail messages from my step mom. Not something you normally get at that time of the morning unless something is going on that you don't want to hear about.

This ended up being the case and my step mom told me that my dad woke up confused, stumbled once trying to turn on the light. He then used the restroom and walked out to the kitchen, a little confused and disoriented. He sat down and started drinking some water in hopes that was all that was going on.

Once my step mom was able to check him out she realized that it was his blood pressure that had dropped and usually this means that he is extremely dehydrated and has been doing too much above and beyond what he should be doing. Especially with his diabetes he has to be more careful than the average Joe would need to be.

Anyway, so my step mom called the paramedics and when they could not get his blood pressure back up after three attempts so they decided to take him over to Nevada Medical Center at 4:00 in the morning.

Doing Well Now

We decided to stop by the hospital on the way to work and see how he was doing and I knew he would like seeing Zoey. I am glad that we did, he seemed to be in as good of spirits as he could be given the circumstances and being poked and prodded since the wee hours of the day.

More than likely he will have to stay the night for observation and to make sure that the dehydration does not mess with his kidneys or something else like his heart which is not a road that we ever would like to go down.

Brighter Note

My nephew just texted me to let me know that he passed his test for his drivers license, woo! Very cool that he passed his test first try and at the same time sad that he is already grown up and that old already.

Anyway, hopefully he is safe and uses his head and does not drive after drinking or do dumb things from the influence of his friends and so on. No matter enough lecturing out of me, I just want him to be safe and have a good time.

Photo: Fun new art on Zoey's classroom door, 'the lambs'. I'm pretty sure that it's in preparation for all of the Easter decorations they will soon be putting up, or simply for springtime?
