Dad's Doing Fine

Talked to my step mom this morning over text messages and she said that my dad was doing really well and that he was able to get sleep yesterday once the in and out of the hospital staff calmed down a little bit.

She was also able to go home and get a decent amount of sleep. By the time she left the hospital it was nearly 10pm, made it home and slept until 6am before heading back to the hospital.

They are expecting to have him released today, hopefully with a clean bill of health other than a few medicine adjustments that the doctor at the hospital felt were not appropriate for my dads blood levels, age and few medical issues other than those that typically come with getting older.

This is great news and in a weird sort of way makes the entire ordeal more worthwhile than they probably realize at the moment. This will also get him in touch with one or two specialist that should potentially better evaluate his needs versus him simply seeing a nurse practitioner at his current doctors office.

Speaking Of Current Doctors

He was telling me yesterday that his doctor, who used to be my doctor, up and retired after who knows how many years of being in practice as well as practicing out of that same location.

The last time I went to this doctor they were converting over from a private practice to a practice owned by a much larger one in the area. The biggest one is Renown I think with Saint Mary's being a close second, this is who his doctor started running the practice through. At that visit I made a comment to Cicely that things will be changing just you watch. Or worse, they will buy the practice from him completely which in the end we now know is what happened. They also moved locations although from what he said the same staff is working in the office which is a small plus.

I am always curious as to whether or not the doctors that sell their practices when they retire also get a chunk of money to essentially pay for the additional people that will now be giving their money to the new owners whether corporate or not.

Middle Of The Week

Anyway that is about all that is going on for today. It's the middle of the week so things will most certainly start to ramp up. Sounds strange I know although it's the trend.

Lots of things being figured out, new things being started and people with great ideas that could not interject them until midweek for whatever reason. This then compresses the end of the week which makes those items spill into the first part of the next week and exactly what I am referring to as to where I am at today. Oh well it's all part of the cycle of the workweek.

Birthday #1

Today we are sending out Zoey's birthday card invites to immediate family and a few others that we think would like to receive a card even if we know that they will not be able to make it for the actual party.

Cicely filled out all of the cards last night and this morning I had an idea to put this cool hot pink mesh material in with the cards so I took care of that.

She will mail them out today and hopefully they get to everyone in time. We are about a week behind where I would like to be sending them out, next year we need to do it much sooner to give everyone a chance to make arrangements to attend.

Otherwise that is all that I have to rabble about today. I hope the week is treating you fair and you are enjoying the nice weather if you are in the Reno area. We are supposed to start getting cold weather this week, rain and possibly snow by the weekend.
