If you agreed then you are pretty much spot on because I have in fact been using the time for other things. Trust me, not that I wanted to but more like I had to because according to the weather guessers there is supposed to be some really crappy weather coming the next couple days.
Starting tonight it will get really cold and possibly start to get some rain down here in the valley. Same thing up in the higher elevations except that once the temperatures drop below freezing after sundown then it will of course turn to snow and winter will be officially kicked off.
They are expecting around a foot of snow in the higher elevations, I think they said above 5,000 feet and then mostly rain or some flurries everywhere else. I am not sure what the elevation of my sisters house is but it's probably pretty close to the level that they may get snow. That really sucks because I am sure she would like it to be a little longer before that happens.
I know for us it changes the dynamics of everything quite a bit. From our commute to work to what we can and cannot do on the weekends is dependent on it. I have considered starting to snowshoe this winter but have not decided yet if I will or not. If I do that will be a plus having snow, but I could easily do without the shoveling and snow-blowing all winter.
Sick Day 2
So back to the sick day. Today I did in fact stay home again as mentioned and while I have been resting I have also been getting some things done outside. I mowed the front and back yard, did poop patrol in the back, edged the front and back as well as did some leaf blowing to get a jump start on that pain in the ass part of the year when the trees shed them all to the ground.
I also managed to get all of the irrigation drip lines buried again so they will not take as much of a beating this winter. They are not buried as well as I would like them to be but to do that I would need to do some serious work and have a nice pile of rock dropped off at the house. Being short on rock and not being able to get the exact same rock has been a pain in the ass since day one.
I kinda wish that I would have went the route of decomposed granite instead. You can find that stuff pretty much anywhere and it looks nice. I was just worried it would not be as robust as rock and it would blow around with the crazy winds we get - I guess it does not. My neighbor has it and they do not have any issues as far as I know.
Oh well, live and learn right? Should I ever decide to get another home or to change something up in the backyard here then maybe I would switch over to the decomposed granite. In the meantime what we have is fine, looks good and works well.
Family
So both Cicely and Zoey are here with me today as well. They both decided to stay home and get some much needed rest and work on their colds as well. I think Zoey is slowly getting over hers but Cicely is just ramping up a little more. I don't think hers is the same or as bad as mine because mine has pretty much knocked me on my ass to be perfectly honest.
Anyway, it's nice to have everyone here today I only wish that it was under different circumstances that we were spending the time together. I guess a family that stays sick together stays together or something like that.
Out
Alright I am getting heavy eyed sitting here on the couch typing this entry today. It's just after 3:00 and I think it's time for a nap to catch up on some rest. More than likely I will be back in the office tomorrow because I should be feeling a little better by then. If not, my hope is that it will be a short day because of Halloween and we will get out after our studio lunch that is being provided.
Oh we also have the trick-or-treaters coming around cube to cube tomorrow from Zoey's school. She does not get to participate, only the older kids come over. Maybe next year she will be able to come by and get some candy from everyone?
Anyway, that is enough out of me for today.
Photo: Yea I realize it's not chicken noodle soup but it's still exactly what I wanted for lunch today.
