In the end the day itself was mellow, really mellow. Other than doing a small amount of work outside to try and alleviate some of that stuff on my "to-do" list. Not to mention I still have my laptop that I brought home from work Friday so I could work on reviews - I have yet to start them again. Really bad on my part but I try to be thorough with them though most employees.
Who knows what tomorrow will bring. There is a good chance that I will find the motivation to work on them some more and get at least 1, 2 or.... out of my hair once and for all for 2014 and we can start the painful process of setting goals for 2015.
The Start
I started the day out with the usual 14 ounce of coffee, 3 sugar in the raw packets and 3 teaspoons of vanilla coffee creamer. The good stuff, made with real sugar and stuff, not the fake crap that most people are stuck using, myself included at times when it's impossible to find - not today.
Once my pour over coffee was brewing I started a double packed bowl of farina to fill up my gas tank. I added handful of Craisons and then a single cup of hot water. Cicely tells me it's a heck of a lot better with hot milk but I don't want the calories and we don't have any milk on-hand other than almond or rice milk so I might as well use water and so I did.
About 1/2 hour later and a ton of nom, nom, noming I was full and starting to feel more woken up from the strong coffee I tend to make myself on Saturdays as a bit of a kick in the ass to get me going. Today it worked, but mostly gave me a kick in the ass to get to the couch and spend the majority of the day there.
The Middle
For the middle of the day, which is really more like the end'ish of the day because it was just starting to get dark outside I decided that I had better mow the lawn so the task was not hanging over me all day tomorrow.
I managed to get the entire front mowed just as day was turning into 100% night. I grabbed the blower and cleaned up the clippings and threw the battery on the charger to top it off before doing the back yard. I did have to do the back in the dark but thanks to the 2 killer LED lights on the mower it is a non-issue and worked out great.
Once done with the yard and while waiting for the batteries to charge before putting everything away and cleaning everything up as usual I decided to check the tires on my road bike, lubricate the chain as well as clean the bike up a little from the splashes of the sprinklers on my night rides. I also adjusted the brakes because they were sticking a little bit both front and back.
Last but not least I had to adjust the handlebars a little because the other night, Thursday night, I ran over some big ass thing in the bike lane on my ride. It was a big enough object to almost yank the bars out of my hands, make my jaw clamp together and scare the shxt out of me. I went back later to see if I could figure out what I had ran over but I did not see anything other than a few large rocks but nothing that I would think would have had that affect - maybe so?
Anyway that is all fixed and adjusted and while I had the torque wrench out I decided to check all of the other things that I could and verify they were tightened to specification. Tomorrow I would like to get up and go for a nice ride a little early, yea just like I plan to every dam weekend and never do get up early enough to do so.
I have extra motivation tomorrow though because I want to grab Cicely and Zoey and go over to the pumpkin patch that is down the road. They have a corn maze, cannons that shoot out corn, face painting, animals for the kids to see, pumpkin and other stuff too. I think it's a few bucks to get in but that is not a big deal if all of that is included - not sure if it is or not. Anyway that is my extra bit of motivation to get my ass up, out and back!
The Conclusion
After all of the above, which really only took about 3 hours because I also sharpened some garden tools, cleaned up some things and related otherwise it would have only taken probably 2 hours. It was time to call it a night. I went in and helped Cicely give Zoey her bath, played with her while she splashed in the tub and played with her animals - so darn cute!
Once she was out of the tub it was basically bedtime but we played for a few minutes because it's Saturday night after-all so she should get to stay up a little longer as well. After playing Cicely and I sat in Zoey's room and Oggy too. Cicely and Oggy sat on the floor, Zoey and I snuggled in the Lay-Z-Boy recliner that we have in there to rock her to sleep.
While rocking her, and her gazing up at the projector we have projecting scenes onto the ceiling Cicely and I sang songs to Zoey. Everything from good night songs to theme songs for old TV shows ha ha, it was a lot of fun, a very special moment for us all and end the end it put Zoey fast asleep in my arms - my favorite part of the entire day I think.
That Was It
In the end, looking at the clock at nearly midnight, 11:54 PM to be exact, I remembered that I had not yet told this entry to post so that was the final thing I did before basically calling it a day. I did have a late dinner, some noodles with fettuccine sauce and a salad for dinner otherwise the day was fairly even keeled and nothing really going on.
It's nice to have days like this even though I have a lot to do and its easy to put those things off when you consider "aah what the heck, I have all day tomorrow". The next thing you know everything started back logging and you are that much further behind!
So with that I am going to call this day done and kick back, relax on the couch, possibly enjoy a Drumstick ice cream cone and then hit the sack. I need to get some sleep so I make it on the ride nice and early after all.
Hopefully your Saturday was a great one as well!
Photo: Nothing much for me today to use for the photo of the day. Because of this you get an picture that sums up one of the biggest rules in my garage.
