Shot In The Thigh

Today was an early start to get Zoey to the doctor so she could get her booster shot for influenza. I really don't like days that we have those appointments because it breaks my heart to see her happy and bubbly only to get confused and upset when the needle goes into her chunka-monka thigh!

The Shot

It was Cicely's turn to hold Zoey this time and my job to be in front of her, holding Zoey's hand make eye contact and comfort her before and after the poke.

The needle is unwrapped, put into the plunger and her leg was swabbed with alcohol for sterility. In goes the needle, Zoey looks down at it just as it's coming out, looks at me, looks at the nurse with a sour face, scrunched up her face a little as though a storm of tears would begin to flow from her tear ducts any moment.

I talk, comfort and rub her hand - all of it in a moment, a blink and it was over. The tears or cry? Those never came, not a single peep, not a single tear. I can't begin to tell you how proud I am of her! She is such a smart, adaptable, caring little girl already at only 7 months old.

Please stay this way Zoey, I will do my best to do the same. Be a great papa and show you the way while letting you do the same and teach me your way.

Meetings

Today started off with a very long meeting the second I walked in after Zoey's appointment and that was basically what I did for the remainder of the day.

Eventually the clock hit 5:00 PM and the studio started to get very quiet which meant that everyone was slowly drifting out the door and into the weekend.

I finally headed out the door just after 5:40 PM and over to pick up Zoey. I missed lunch due to being so busy and was starving so we stopped by Starbucks so I could grab a tea and one birthday cake pop. That should hold me over for a little longer if a bowl of farina and handful of Craisons fueled me for the entire day.

This Day In Gaming History

In 1985 on this day Nintendo released the NES in North America, singlehandedly saving the video game industry. That is pretty cool to know and it's true. People were getting into personal computers but not consoles so much. Wonder how things would be if there were never an Xbox or play station?

Power Down

So that has to do it for me today. I need to get some dinner and relax for a few hours after not eating all day and only sleeping for about four hours last night.

I would like to be able to go for a bike ride tomorrow I'm just not sure where I want to go as of now. Tonight is a night off to rest my body for longer weekend rides as usual.

One destination I was considering is all the way out to Pyramid Lake. Problem is; I have to decide whether I want to risk it or not. The weather needs to be really good as well because it gets windy on the way back and has the most hills.

Not to forget that from what I have heard from others it's around 100 miles if you go all the way to this one popular stop, have some food and head back. Guess we will see, more on that tomorrow whether I go for that spin or another.

I am super close on my 300 in 20 days challenge. As of yesterday I think that I have just barely over 100 to go which should be easy to do within the next week if not entirely this weekend if I go out to Pyramid tomorrow.

Photo: Package of nom-nom-nom snacks I brought for my team today. Mostly so they get eaten by someone other than me. Interestingly enough I had only one person take me up on the offer and take one cookie, odd!
