Flat In The Dark

Super short post today because I am basically out of time to write much of anything substantial and detailed. As much as I would like to, especially about the crazy day and last nights ride I will have to keep it a bit on the shorter side.

Oh and no the title of today's post is not an 80's rock song. That is if you are thinking of the one about the "shot in the dark by Ozzy. For some reason I was thinking mostly of Bon Jovi but what ever.

Night Ride

Last night was the first night that I was able to ride in the Ride For Disabled Athletes challenge that I signed up for at the end of last month.

About 13 miles into my ride I was heading up to an area that I normally try to kick some ass at and upon doing so my front tire felt really clunky and on the rim. Well unfortunately it was just that, riding on the rim.

I was on a steep section and not able to do much to get off the road other than walk as far to the edge as possible and hold my bike up so drivers would see my flashing taillight on my bike and not run me over. Oh did I mention that it was around 8 PM and pitch black dark.

I texted Cicely as I normally do if I have an issue and she was going to wake up Zoey and come pick me up. I told her not too because it was a front flat it was faster to repair and I would be done by the time she got there.

She had to wake Zoey anyhow to feed her dinner and insisted on coming to get me. I still said "nah not necessary" but she said it was too late and she was already in the way.

Well by the time she got there I was done as planned and ended up talking for a few while putting tools away and the n finishing the last few miles of the ride.

Thankfully it was cooler out last night and there was a decent amount of light in the ballpark for me to change the tube. I never found what punctured it, may have been a pinch flat or maybe the thorn or whatever came out before the fix.

Either way it was an easy fix and I went with one of my latex inner tubes. I have others but have wanted to try it out. So far it works just fine but we will see. I don't bother patching them. For $6 or so it's just not worth having a patch fail or something and get hurt.

In the end I cycled just over 20 miles which is a great start to the fund raising event I am doing. I want to do my best to get my 300km in the 20 days. Missing one day already sucks so I need to stay on top of that shxt. I considered doing this other event where you are challenged to do 300km running but that is way out of my level and time.

Sure it's only around 120 miles but still that is a lot of walking for me. I easily do that on the treadmill although that does not count for challenges and for good reason - it's much easier and easier for people to cheat.

Okay

That will do it for today. On the way home now. Managed to get one review about half done today and still have 8 more to go. Sure hope I can manage to do them all in time it's tough!

Oh and poor Zoey spit up multiple times today and was out of clothes so they had to loan her an outfit for the day. That was nice of them, I just hope she does not have a bug causing it. I doubt it but you never really know for sure.

Okay for real now this time. Heading home and going to rest for a few minutes, kick off my shoes and then change to go for a nice ride.
