So it's Wednesday, middle of the week and things are going pretty good other than me still being really far behind on the million things I need to do for my team before the reviews are due.
I only have just over one complete and the one that is "in progress" only has about an hour and a half left on it before it's also complete. I think my focus needs to be adding fewer comments and instead doing more discussion in the one on one chats that we have. In theory this should really speed things up on my end and not take away from the overall purpose of the reviews.
Audit
So today I need to stay around my cube as much as possible until later in the afternoon, hopefully only until 2:00 at the latest so I can get to the gym for my cardio and strength training hour.
Anyway, reason being is that we are being audited today at the studio to verify that we are in-line with everything that makes our company certified as an ISO company. Once out merger happens this could be even more of a big deal because we will also be a part of the Fortune 500 companies which is a really good "problem" to have.
So why do I have to be in my cube? Well I would function as a life support system or phone a friend should someone on my team not know the answer to something asked by the ISO auditor. Even then if I too do not know the answer and cannot find it we still have the opportunity to ask another and another until we are good.
The idea is not to memorize every single detail of the best way to get the job done, instead to be able to show that we have been trained in the best way and that we can find that information.
Honestly my hope is that they do not bother me today. I have been audited once before long ago and while not difficult it was a bit of a pain in the butt, but again as a company totally worth it.
I think more than anything individuals are more concerned with being able to answer questions from the auditors and not make us fail for the first time since the start of the auditing process over a decade ago.
All Hands
We have an all hands meeting today that may or may not freak some individuals out a little bit. I can safely go into some detail because by the time this is posted it will be public knowledge anyway.
We have an art director that will be switching over to a new studio, a start-up studio of sorts, but not. The woman that will be leading the studio has been with the company for 10, 15 maybe as many as 20 years and knows her stuff extremely well.
I think that it will be a good move for all of those involved and even open up doors for anyone that may have been looking for a change of scenery or direction without needing to leave a company they actually enjoy working for.
Should be interesting and I and certain that I will get pinged with questions, concerns and pure overwhelming anxiety surrounding the changes. Nothing to worry about, all is well other than the fact that we as a studio may loose some of our talent, as much as it sucks, it also gives us the opportunity to give others the chance to broaden their careers and possibly make change for the better.
The positive aspects of the new group is that they will continue be part of our studio and overall organization, with the flexibility to try new things and throw some ideas at the wall and see what sticks, what falls apart and so on.
Cycling iPhone Case
I have been looking high and low for a replacement case for my iPhone 6 Plus for a couple weeks now, assuming that it would be months at best before I found one, at least from the company I have my current one from. As luck would have it, I managed to stumble across one today while searching for something else.
It's a little more expensive than the one that I have now and made of leather instead of the fabric and plastic but I think it will work perfectly and I look forward to getting it and using it on every ride and not worrying about my phone, I.D. getting lost something. Plus this one is thick enough that it will hold tubes and other repair items as well.
If it works the way it showed in the Video and is as comfortable in my jersey pocket as they reported it to be I think I will never get another model of case.
Not to mention if I am able to get more items out of the seat bag the more room I have for things like snacks, extra water and related to keep me going on the 100+ mile rides.
That Is It
Okay it's time for me to get my ass in gear and focus on year end reviews and the million other things that are getting dusty in my Outlook inbox.
Have a great middle of the week and I hope that everything is going great!
