Whoosh!

That would be the sound that this past 3 day weekend has made so far if it had a related sound file. I realize that it's Monday so we still have all of today to enjoy and that is awesome! I am more or less pointing out the fact that up until today the days have really clicked by. This happens of course pretty much every time there is a long weekend, it's just the nature of things.

We have done little to nothing this weekend though. I mean I have put some good miles on the road bike and things like that but as a family, other than visiting mom on Saturday and going out to dinner on the way back we have not done much. Makes me feel kind bad honestly but in reality there is only so much that you can do anyhow when you have a 5 month old.

Plus most of the stuff that we would want to do or have her experience she would not get much out of anyhow at this age. So hanging out at home is almost the same to her as going out. Well other than the fact she is able to get some good vitamin D in her system from going outside. Have even considered the park, but again I dunno what she would get out of it. Maybe going down the slides and stuff with Cicely and I would be fun, either that or scary as all heck for her!

No matter it has been nice so far and I plan to enjoy today as well. May not do a rifled though, might let my body rest today so I don't hurt my back or something again like last week. No more holidays to speak of until the big holidays now I think unless we take DTO. That is always a bummer to realize this time of year. Mixed with the craziness of the big holidays, and even more-so this year I am not sure if I am looking forward to them or not. I think I am, mostly because I want Zoey to experience them but I have a worry that we may be pulled in every direction.

Applesauce

Tonight for dinner Zoey was in for a treat and was given something new, applesauce! Cicely bought organic apples and peas and made her food with it in the baby bullet. We decided to do apples for the next 3 days and then switch back over to vegetables, the peas, once the applesauce is gone. Zoey has a bit of a diaper rash again from pooing so much the past week.

I think the sweet potatoes were going through her system faster than we anticipated. We change her diaper a ton so that is not the issue, it's how much she is going that is causing it. It will get better, but we hate watching her go through the pain of it when it happens and this is only the second time. We give her more baths and let her soak so it soothes it as well as let her be naked now and then so she can air out a bit.

So I fed her the homemade applesauce tonight for her dinner and she absolutely loved every bite of it. She even ate the entire container where-as with the other stuff, the avocado and then the sweet potatoes she was only eating about 1/2. Not because she did not like it but because that was all we were supposed to start her out on, then keep her on it for 3 to 4 days to verify there is no allergic reaction of any kind. So far so good on all of the things she has eaten.

We hope that it stays this way so she does not have to grow up with food allergies. Both Cicely and I are fine with foods so I think she will be OK, but we want to error on the safe side.

Any-who

I think I will call that an entry for today and get on with it. I want to take care of the yard work as well and need to do so when it's not crazy hot out. I thought it would be a good weekend to trim the evergreens out front as well but I think I will give that another week or 3 until it cools down just a tad more. Plus it's a huge mess to do them and the pine smell sticks to you like crazy!

Alright this time for real! I hope you too have been enjoying the weekend if you had all 3 days off from work! Tomorrow is my Monday and the makings of a short week - I'm excited about that!

Photo: Nice big bowl of applesauce made from organic apples. Steamed and the processed in the baby bullet with nothing added other than bottled water to thin them out. She loved them!
