Balloons & Batteries

Well we made it to another Friday, well Friday morning anyway. I am up early and will have to work on this entry a little throughout the day as the day develops. As of now there is not a lot going on but looking more like I will be coasting into a good day so long as no big fires spark up at the studio.

Yesterday we had enough of a fire spark up that actually was ignited on Wednesday. I think that one is under control, we have built some structure around it - and by structure I mean good people that can handle the increased rush of the tasks at hand.

Battery Factory

It was officially announced yesterday that the new factory Tesla Motors wanted to build in the Reno area will in fact be located here. The company has been looking at a few locations with this area being one of the top choices. About a month or 2 ago we figured that we would not get it because they pulled all of the construction out of the area and did not let anyone know when they might be coming back to work. Still unsure why this took place, supposedly it was a permit issue from the state that still need to have some work done and still does now, but will not be a problem from this point forward to get it all into place.

The factory will be located about 15 miles out from where I live, but to the east of me. I think it may actually be closer to 20 or 25 miles but the shxtty maps and information that the local news had on it was not very helpful - and no, I am not surprised by this. Anyway, this is a great thing from what I know anyway, for our area. It will bring int thousands of local jobs and something like 100 billion dollars over the next X amount of years. Not a bad thing at all, plus maybe it will help ramp up the auto manufactures production and bring prices down - I would love to own one of those!

Rash Update

So Zoey's rash is getting better everyday thankfully. It's still a little painful for her because we get the small whimpers when she is sitting more on her bottom or when she is in one of her play areas that require her to sit upright with her legs through holds and her bottom supported by a material seat. Kinda hard to describe what that is exactly, but if you remember. or picture the swings that have more of a full diaper-like-seat, that is what this is like in her "under the sea" play-set.

Not very comfortable for her and difficult at the same time because she wants to be in it and playing. Poor kiddo, but I know that she will be better soon, and is a tough little girl being able to deal with this as well as she has been. Thankfully we don't get diaper rash as adults, that would not be fun. Well I should take that back, I guess there are things that adults get that are similar and older folks could very well get diaper rash if they need to wear adult diapers - ah, you know what I mean!

Balloons

Today if you look up in the sky you will see rows and rows of balloons floating overhead. Its a really neat thing to see and I cant wait until Zoey can see them and understand what they are exactly. Our "Great Reno Balloon Race" kicks off today I think and goes through the weekend. For those that are extra crazy they get up at 4:00 AM or something and watch the show in the morning where the balloons do not take off but they stay on the ground and light up the park, in tune to music. It used to simply be part of what they called "Dawn Patrol" but I think they have some new name for it now or for the past few years anyway.

I don't think that we are planning on attending this year. We are not really that into it. I have actually raced in the balloon races many many years ago and it was an absolute blast doing so. At the same time it was a little scary and freaky, but awesome! Anyone that has a chance to ride in one, even if it's a tethered one you should do it - great experience.

Just around the corner we should also be having our annual Air Races out at the Stead airport area. I cant recall ever going to those. It would be neat, but I am not much of a plane buff so it would be more of me looking at shiny stuff that intrigues me but would not know really what I was looking at. Probably fun as well, but something we have never been into. Probably be one of those things that we will need to take Zoey to though, I want her to experience as much as possible.

Other Than That

If there is not much else going on today at work other than the usual and/or the things that have been on the priority lists this week then there will not be much else to rabble about for a day. I feel like this week has been really dry as far as my entries go. I guess there is nothing wrong with that "big picture" because it means that things are falling into place in a good way or I am doing my job keeping them under control.

Tomorrow is supposed to be nice, but get fairly hot in the middle of the day - around 90 degrees, so I want to really try and get my ass out of the house around 6:30 AM to go on my ride. This way if it takes me 4 to 6 hours I should not be in too much of the crappy wind and heat. I doubt that I will go for a full 100+ again, just depends on my feeling on the bike and related. I do plan to put in 85 miles at least so I can complete my challenge for the month. Cheers to hoping I can pull it off!

What ever it is you are doing this weekend I hope it's a good one! As always, be safe and watch out for bikers, runners, joggers and motorcycles. One slip by you could be our life and only a scratch on your vehicle in comparison. Don't risk stupid shxt when behind the wheel, if for nothing else out of respect for the families and friends we have as well!

Photo: Here is a photo of the balloon races out at the Rancho San Rafael park in Reno where they host the balloon event. I was not there and did not take this photo but it was fitting for the day so I had to grab it off the web and use it for today's photo.
