Today the weather guessers predicted that there was a slight chance of rain in the valley. As usual most all of us that heard the report shrugged it off as "sure, rain, yea right - so it will be sunny and calm I bet"! Well wouldn't you know it, walked out the door and it was raining! Gold star for the weather guessers today, okay a half of a gold star because they predicted a chance of rain, and that it would happen much later in the day.
Doctor Visit
Today I started off the with a doctors appointment, better most times than a dentist appointment but not as nice as no appointments at all - that is my preference especially on a Friday - no appointments and let the day pass-by, productively but not crazy.
Happy to say that all is well and routine checkups are still in place as usual, no surprises there. No under the good checks today - I think most of those don't start for many years anyhow and I am totally okay with waiting for that. Not something anyone looks forward to. Men have it easy compared to women so I really cant complain I guess.
New Phone
So my new phone showed up on Thursday but I have not taken the time to set it up yet. I will probably do it tomorrow sometime after I get a bike ride in. That is the only real issue with the new phone, I dont have a kick ass case for it like I do for my current phone that will keep it secure in my cycling jersey and free from any of the elements that decide to get near it and into it.
Sure, letting it sit in rice worked great last time I was on a ride and it started raining like crazy, completely soaking everything I had including me. Thankfully it has worked just fine since then and other than taking it to Apple to get the battery replaced (under warranty) I have not had any issues with it what-so-ever since it was soaked with water.
Cycling Gear
After we picked up Zoey from daycare today we headed over to REI so I could look into some winter gear for riding. They do not have much which is really f'n lame to be blunt. I mean I even checked the website and it said they had certain things "in stock", lies I tell you, lies! They really did not have shxt in stock for winter riding gear and if it was in the store, just not on the shelves then that is pretty much total bullshxt as well.
I mean what if I had driven all the way over there based solely on what I had been told on their website? They said that XY and Z were in stock at the Reno locaton so you would expect them to be in stock when you get there. At the very least I could see them selling out of a particular size but the entire shipment of sizes? No I dont think so.
I was able to still find one pair of long cycling pants, leg warmers and a jacket which I think will be great to get me going when it gets colder out. Tonight I dont think I could have ridden even if I had wanted to. It was cold and by the time I got home from my appointment I was ready to chill out for a while and not start messing with stuff, trying new clothes and so on. Tomorrow is a new day so maybe I will be able to try the stuff out then. Although my ultimate preference would be that winters stay in the low 80's - now that would be awesome!
Okay
That will be enough out of me for today. I am getting sleepy and this post needs to be posted so I can crash-out in bed. The rest of the house is already asleep, I am the last one still awake. I have Zoey sleeping in her mamma-roo, Oggy is sleeping right next to me and Cicely is over on the other side of the couch listening to something on her iPhone 6+ - I think it's something for going into deep states of relaxation or some other sort of meditation. No mater everyone is out and I am ready as well!
