Okay I guess I should break it down a little more simply based on the rumors. It's not just any watch, but a smart watch possibly that is supposed to do everything from let you inspect your messages at a glance, monitor body vitals as well as a slew of other things. Most people thought they had no use for a smart phone and I bet the vast majority of those same people own one of one type or another by now and those that do not are considering it. Well once they get off of their perch of - I am better than everyone else because; "ugh, I am caveman that no need new fancy rock, old rock good"!
Of course as mentioned, this has all been a rumor for quite some time and is not the first time some of these things have been predicted, nor will it be the last. Apple is known for causing industry rumors and making other companies step up their game and create things that they did not have plans to create but were almost forced to so they could keep up with the rest of the industry that would now have to follow suit.
There are many that will always say that Apple is not the creator or drive behind a lot of the products but while that may be true at times, you have to admit that we would not have so many smart phones or iPad type devices out there if it were not for the explosion of the iPad by Apple's introduction. Sure there are other brands that do this, or do that better or in a way that may suit your needs in a better way but that does not mean anything other than the market is open and someone had to kick start it.
Wait & See
So today there will not be much here on my entry other than a possible update of what Apple has introduced and how I am planning to pre-order 1 or 2 of whatever for myself and Cicely. At some point I guess I will be ordering 3 of whatever new devices are available because I would like Zoey to have the latest technology as well so she can stay ahead of the curve and be more than just someone that thinks they are a "computer person" when in reality they are nothing more than an end user. Too many think that because they can post on Facebook or do this or that it makes them a guru.
The problem with that is you do not fully understand what you are doing and why things are happening because of it - this is key. I know this sounds like a bit of a rant and in a way it is because those people are all around us and even seen as - dare I say "experts" by family and friends. This scares the shxt out of me, but that is a post for another day.
For all of those that fall into this category I think it's great that you are trying to keep up with technology but don't act like you know it all and have been there since the beginning, it's annoying to those of us that have and still have mega-tons to learn about it all. Thinking you're an expert because you can post a video online is the equivalent of thinking that you are an actor or actress because you can turn on a TV and change the channel.
Anyway, I sit and wait today for the event - supposed to kick off in about an hour as I type this sentence. Credit card in hand waiting for Apple to show me what I need to be spending my money on next, without second thought or reasoning. I guess that is what happens when you are a technology addict and love playing and learning new things, especially when technology related. I can easily burn hours or days learning and investigating something new - software or hardware, it will fascinate me to the point that I forget to eat or get up and stretch - love it!
Some may call me an "Apple Fan-boy" because of it and that is okay, don't really care as it does not bother me. I have been using Apple products since they had OS6 and I still own a Macintosh Color Classic so yea, been there, done that - what's next?
**Update: Quick update because it's all over the web so there is no use repeating all of it. So today Apple announced the watch that everyone has been anticipating, 3 models actually which is cool. They are a little spendy, starting at $349, might be a cool accessory though. I am still on the fence whether I would use one and how it would fit into my day-to-day.
Next they announce essentially 6 new phones, 3 each of 2 models. The 6 and the 6+. They have tons more goodies from NFC to higher resolution, battery life and related. The new sizes are 4.7" and 5.5" if I remember correctly. Not sure which I would prefer as both have pros and cons associated so it will take some more thought. There are 3 colors as well; gold, silver and space gray.
The new iOS 8 was announced as well along with pairing features between certain cars, phones and with the new watches. It will be interesting to see where it all goes. I am excited and now need to dig up the release dates and related. Fun stuff!
Photo: The newly announced goodies from Apple today. Looking forward to attempting to get in on the pre-order this Friday for the 6 or 6+. At the moment I am leaning toward the 6+. No decision on the watch yet, I will have to wait a little longer and ponder - that does not come out for several months still anyhow so there is plenty of time to decide.
