6 Month Check-Up

Today was the big day for Zoey, she had to go into the doctor and get her 6 month checkup and of course a few shots in the leg to keep her vaccines going for the year. Today she ended up having 4 if I remember correctly. I was not paying that much attention to them to be perfectly honest, I was more concerned with holder her hands tightly and letting her squeeze my finger as hard as she wanted to if it would help her with the sudden shock of the needle and any pain.

She did amazing to say the least. I cant believe what a trooper she is and how strong she is mentally. Sure, she cried, but for less than a minute before she was pretty much over it and ready to have her pacifier back in her mouth and start looking around once again at all of the interesting things in the room, on the walls and anticipating us strapping her back into the car seat to head out.

I am really happy that she did such a good job. That has to be such a scary thing for someone that age. Sitting there nice and happy, looking around, looking at the nurse in front of you only to have her put some alcohol on your leg, thinking "okay that is a little cold and kinda weird, I had a bath this morning before we left the house" only to next have one needle after the next stuck in your soft, cute little chunky leg.

Speaking of which, I was a little concerned that her legs may be showing that she is in fact a little bit heavier than she should be. Nope, not the case - they said she is right where she should be and is actually on the tall side for her age.

Her statistics at today's appointment were as follows:

Height: 26.5" - She is in the 90th percentile
Weight: 17.13 lbs - She is in the 90th percentile
Head: 17.5" - She is in the 95th percentile

New Phones

Last night, or more like super early this morning Cicely and I managed to keep ourselves awake so that I could get new iPhone's ordered for both of us. We ended up going with the iPhone 6 Plus and the 128gb model. Cicely ended up getting the gold (great choice, I really like the color) and I ended up choosing the silver. The space gray color was cool, but it's so close to black that I worry I will end up scratching it all up anyhow until I have a case for it.

We put in the orders starting at 12:01 AM but there were some stupid issues with the website so it was not linking correctly to the AT&T website. Had I pressed on and ignored this little problem I would have potentially lost my unlimited data plan among a few other features and discounts that we receive working at our company.

This morning I decided that we needed cases for them sooner than later even though I know that Cicely will end up getting something different and bling it out as she does so well with pretty much anything and everything she can. I bought the black leather one for my phone and chose what they are calling the pink leather one for hers. It's more like a rose color, similar to the actual color of the gold phone that she will be getting.

Eventually I will have to get rid of my cover just as she probably will and get another case that doubles as a battery pack. It is so nice having that, especially on my bike rides. I don't have to worry even the slightest about running out of power - seriously SO NICE.

Anyway, hers will be here almost 2 weeks before I get mine, to be specific hers will be available at the Apple Store on the 19th which is next Friday. Mine is not supposed to be available until sometime between the 1st and the 7th of October. Not sure how the heck that worked out that way, but that is how it ended up and there is nothing I can do other than be thankful that we both were able to upgrade and get the phone that we wanted.

To be totally honest, I don't mind if she gets hers weeks before I do. I will have to set hers up and stuff anyway so no big deal. Although I did joke with her that she can't open it until the day that mine comes in. I am just messing with her of course - mostly because I want to play with it the minute it shows up!

Boom

Okay that will do it for today. It's already nearly over and I am only typing this right now because I have a little time before the next few things that I need to get accomplished here at work. My body and brain REALLY wants to go down to the gym, Fridays are optional for me but I did not go yesterday so I feel very obligated to do so. Problem is, once it hits about 3 or 4 in the afternoon the crowd that is down there is much bigger and equipment is a pain to get onto.

More than likely I will skip it and try to get some more work done today during that hour. Then tonight see if I can get Cicely to go with me for a nice walk with Oggy and Zoey and use that as my cardio for the day. I do need some more strength training this week, I have not worked my chest yet this week but I can always do that one at home if necessary.

Tomorrow and/or Sunday I hope to be able to go for a nice ride on the bike. I have not decided if I am going to attempt my 80+ mile ride or not. I have been "kinda" planning it in the back of my head and the reason I am missing the gym yesterday and today. Give my body a nice rest and then use that energy and power to ride strong this weekend. We will see how it goes.

Otherwise, have a great weekend whatever it is that you will be doing and keep an eye on those of us on bikes as I always mentioned as of late. Last, if you go out partying please get a sober buddy to take you home, come get you or take a cab - the outcome otherwise is so not worth all of those drinks you had earlier that day - especially for the person you kill.

Photo: A really cool tree in the pediatricians office on the side of the waiting room that is setup for the kids that are "well". The other side is for the kids that are fighting a cold or something. I think its a great idea. Not sure exactly how effective it is, but hey - they are trying and I am all for that!
