Long Ride

So I don't have the energy to sit and write a long post today so yep, for a change this is going to be a fairly short entry today.

No rain today or thunderstorms as predicted by our wonderful weather guessers. I was not surprised that they were wrong, but I also was not disappointed that they were either. I'm just glad I did not plan my day around their guess!

It was still fairly smokey from the wildfire, which they mentioned nothing about - but nothing like it has been the past week. Most of the smoke was higher up in the mountains and closer to the California border. That was bad enough once I was getting closer to the border, thankfully it was not worse otherwise I would have had to turn around much sooner than I wanted to.

80+ Miles

So my goal today was to ride 80 miles or more to get my achievement trophy on Strava and be eligible to order the special shirt this month. Most months it's a jersey which is awesome but this month it's a t-shirt which is even more awesome because I will wear it much more often.

My ride consisted of my going from my house and heading south to the river that runs through the area. From there I would get on the river path and make the journey west to California which was my destination. Once there I always stop at the smoke shop up there and get a refill on my waters, eat the lunch that I bring - usually a peanut butter and jelly on 9 grain bread.

Once done I head east then north east making my way back home. If I am lucky I will have a nice tailwind, otherwise it's usually a headwind. Today it was a bit of a tailwind but more from the side. Not ideal but better than a headwind the entire time.

Getting close to home I still had about 16 miles to put in so I had to get creative and do some loops in certain areas as well as do a few areas several times. Definitely not as fun as riding toward a destination or free riding but it is what it is to get the miles in.

Once home I clocked over 82 miles so the day was a success! I need to now upload my data to the Strava website, let them verify it and then I should qualify for the shirt and the digital trophy for the month of September - cool!

Rest

That will be it for today. Time to let my body relax a little bit and slow down a little after the crazy ride. We are supposed to cut my hair tonight as well but I will leave that up to Cicely. If she feels like doing it, cool we will, otherwise it can wait until tomorrow. I will hop in the shower and let the hot water ease my tired muscles!

Back to work tomorrow and into the fire so-to-speak because of all the craziness this time of year with the gaming show and holidays just around the corner. No matter, will will get through it all and the next thing we know we will be looking forward to summer months again.

Photo: My snack today to keep me going for the last part of my 80+ mile ride. It did the job but a steak or big-ass burger would have been much better!
