The biggest problem with our current method, and still will be a problem to some extent, is that Cicely takes photos, I take photos and video and we are never in sync in one location. I am really good about storing the photos up in the cloud where I have all of them, as well as labeling them, tagging and general organization.
Cicely on the other-hand is horrible at it. No, I am not being a dick, it's the truth and she would most likely agree without hesitation. It's not really important to her at that moment she takes a great photo or video. For me, I immediately go into "gotta get this data backed up before the device crashes and we lose it for good". It's a habit from being around computers for so long and losing data. Photos of special moments or events on the other-hand are that much more important to back-up because unlike a document for example, you cannot simple recreate them.
Anyway, that will be something I will continue to work on and research. I need it to be flexible as far as what I want to upload, what file types and multiple users having the ability to upload - really only two users I guess, Cicely and I, so we can update and add to it as we want, when we want. Then if family or friends that have the link to the site or the application on their device can easily go to it, check-out if there is anything new that day, or maybe even add comments and related.
Again, more on that later because I know most are thinking "umm, you are writing right now in something that you could do exactly that with, what's the deal?" Yea, that is a great question, really its because I want something separate from this web-app as well. Google could pull the plug on Blogger in a heartbeat and not only would I lose my hundreds and hundreds of entries as of today, but then I would also lose all of them for her.
At the same time I don't want there to be something that I have to pay for because then one day when I am gone Zoey will be responsible for keeping up on that unless I was to pay for years and years in advance - it's a tough one with all the digital data we have these days compared to years ago.
Fuckin' Fever
So poor Zoey has been fighting a fever for 2 days now since getting her vaccinations on Friday at her 6 month checkup. She has been up about every hour or so either in pain from her achy body or miserable from running a temperature. Last night it was running all the way up to 102 degrees at one point but thankfully it dropped fairly quickly. It then hovered most of the night and today around the 101 mark, dropping down to the high 99's at times.
Tonight Cicely gave her some more baby Tylenol and it really helped her. We usually don't like to give her that stuff because her body is developing and we don't want to mess anything up. Not that it necessarily does, but you never know and we want her to have the best chance of the best developing stages as she possibly can.
Anyway, hopefully by tomorrow she will be back to her old self and ready for the week. The crappy part is that she has a booster again in 2 weeks so my hope is that the fever and everything does not come back again that time. The weekend will basically be non-existent because it has been doing everything possible to take care of her.
Cicely has been her amazing, awesome usual self and has been doing most of the heavy lifting with Zoey. It's a funny thing, at times when sick they want to be with mom, other times with dad, then even other times just held or snuggled with someone, anyone.
I hope she feels good in the morning and both her and Cicely are able to get a good nights sleep. Last night Cicely did not get hardly any sleep and when she did sleep it was either in bed with Zoey waking up a LOT or it was her in Zoey's room while Zoey slept in the crib and Cicely, and sometimes Oggy as well, slept in the Lay-Z-Boy chair that is in there.
Ride
Because I have such an awesome and amazing wife I was able to go on a ride tonight as well. Actually I could have went anytime today, but I felt bad leaving and was worried that if Zoey's fever spiked and I was not around it would be a mess if she had to go to the emergency room or something to get fixed up. Thankfully that did not happen today so that is awesome!
Anyway I was able to go on a ride for about 45 minutes or so and put in just over 14 miles and some decent climbing as well. I have to really pick and choose my routes when I go in the evening and it's dark out. I have a 700 lumen light on the front that is bright as the sun and then I have a blinky light on the back of the seat and one on the back of my helmet. Then to try and be even more visible I put these reflective bands on each ankle.
So went for a nice ride, made it home safe and sound and back to the caring for the kiddo with Cicely. Right now it's super cute because Cicely and Zoey are watching a YouTube video about painting. Zoey is loving it as the person in the video is mixing and swirling the paint. She is getting very excited and making happy sounds - so cute!
Step-mom
So I talked to my dad on the phone for nearly 2 hours today about some things that are going on with my step-mom this week. I guess they have known that there was a possibility that she might have to have a surgery or 2 for something that is going on with her and its basically time to do so.
I wont get into any details on here obviously because it's her thing and her privacy, but I want the information to be in here at the very least for reference if Zoey or someone in the family goes back through here many years from now. They will have a date and will already know what the surgery was all about more than likely anyhow. So as far as the actual date, so long as everything goes as planned with the pre-surgery blood-work and other lab work she will have the first surgery this Wednesday and shortly thereafter, not sure of the exact date, she will have the second and the hope is that she will be done.
I hope everything goes well, I know that my dad is worried and so are we. Surgeries have come a very long way and continue to advance but there are always so many risks involved with being put under anesthesia or having any sort of operation done. She is a real fighter though and I have total confidence that she will come out on the flip-side of it in great shape and hopefully more importantly feeling better and having an improved quality of life that is pain free.
Nite-Nite
Alright it's late so I need to get some dinner in my gut. Neither one of us have been eating very well this weekend but especially Cicely because she has been taking such amazing care of Zoey and putting her health second. I wanted to make her something for dinner tonight but I think she is at the point that she is hungry but nothing sounds good - everyone has been there at least once. I am there all the time, then I dive into the calorie and values of the food and that makes it that much more difficult to decide what's on the menu.
Tomorrow is a new day and I hope that Zoey is better and that Cicely gets some rest. Maybe I will be able to shield her from getting woken up if she needs to sleep and Zoey can hang out with me. Problem is, she hears Zoey's voice, hears her cry or anything and she is immediately woken up and headed into her room to see what is the matter. Can't blame her, it's what moms do ya' know, they have that built in instinct - heck, she has the same instinct with me as well when I am under the weather or have had surgery or something! We love you Cicely!
Photo: Crows picking Styrofoam boxes out of the trash, pecking them open and eating the leftover food. Pretty dam smart birds. Now work will need to replace the top of the trashcan. Because the birds know the location they will continue to come back to feast.
