Problem now is that as I write this Cicely and Oggy are crashed out napping on the couch and have been there for 2 hours or so snoozin' away their day. Now I am getting tired and that is not a good combination because if I lay down we are all surely not going to get anything done today, anything productive anyhow.
Kiddo Shopping
Last night after work we managed to get the registry done for the most part at the baby shop. I thought that becasue we had already looked at stuff and had a good idea what we wanted that it would be a pretty quick stop. No, that was not the case at all. We were actually there for just under 3 hours adding stuff to the registry.
Biggest reason for this is that we dont know much about being parents. We have to really read over things, compare those that we like, watch videos and read reviews. Once that is done we need to weight the pro's and con's of our favorites if there are multiples and go from there. Overall I think we did really good and only added things that we would buy on our own. Nothing crazy or extra in hopes that someone would buy it for us. Everything on there is something we plan to buy whether someone in the family or a friend decides to help or not - figured that was the best route for us.
All said and done I tallied up the total today and honestly I prolly should not have done it. Or at the very least just do it and not show Cicely. I failed on both because I did tally it up and I also showed her so she would have a good idea of where money was going and needing to go. Anyway to the point; we are looking at just under $3500 for everything that we plan to get before she is born.
I know it sounds like a lot, but once you factor in that most of the stuff will last 3 to 10 years or more then its a pretty good deal. If she decides she hates certain things at some point then fine, we are out the longevity on those items I suppose but big deal.
It was a lot of fun and a real eye opener to be able to walk the entire store and find out how much we really dont know and how much we need to learn over the next 6 months or so - no pressure right?
We were planning to go all the way back over there today and purchase either the crib or the dresser because we have a coupon that expires today worth 20% off one purchase. This means that we can save $180 on the dresser or crib that we plan to get her.
Considering that we have another coupon then that means we will potentially save a grand total of $360 on her bedroom furniture - that is really cool. Not to mention that the bed will work as a crib, transition into a toddler bed, then from there it can transform into a full size "full" bed. In my opinion if we are able to get 3 to 5 years out of the set then we got our monies worth!
Back Out
Ok, time for me to put it in reverse and get my butt out of this entry for today. I am getting tired just sitting here typing this up to be perfectly honest. The A/C is blowing just the right amount of cool air and it's dead quiet outside. Mix all of that in with Cicely and Oggy's calm napping breathing and you have a recipe for me to crash out - sounds great, just dont want to waste my afternoon and even more, I dont want to miss the $180 savings on the kiddo furniture.
I guess I better try and wake them up again - if my counting is accurate I think this will be wake up and fall back asleep session number 4. Let's hope that 5 will be my lucky number today! Whatever you are doing I hope it's great, happy weekend!
**Update: So I have to admit that I crashed out in the couch for an hour with Oggy. Cicely went in to take a shower and I laid down so when she noticed she was kind enough to let me snooze for an hour, it was just right! Thanks baby!
