Playin' Hooky

All work and no play is what make your hair go gray - or something like that. Based on this trivial fact and the amount of truth that is probably within that one simple sentence, Cizzle and I decided it was time to take a day off from work and play hooky. Actually, and in all honesty I have a shxt-ton of DTO (aka vacation time) built up that I need to use before I lose it.

With the new plan in place at work we can only save something like 240 hours. Sounds like a ton and it is, but when you have been there as long as I have and earn nearly 1 day per period along with the personal float holiday's that is given to us. All combined it makes it hard to use it all and still stay productive at work and on schedule.

The only real way that I have found to combat this is to take off for an extended weekend when we have 3 day weekends, as well as take time off for the holidays when they get here. Actually we are planning on doing that this year for sure. Because of the way that the Christmas holiday falls we will be able to get nearly 12 days off and only need to use 4 or 5 days of our DTO!

I know that seems a little counter intuitive to my plan of keeping my days off at a reasonable level so I dont begin to lose them, but if you thread the needle just right, you can almost have your cake and eat it too. To me, that is the best way to work your vacation time.

In the past we have always used the time for trips and tried to do something at least once or twice a year. Whether it was to go to Mexico or to the Caribbean we managed to do something. This year with the baby coming I dont think we will be able to do much unless we decide to take a weekend trip over the hill and hang out in San Francisco for the weekend - which actually may prove to be a blast and is something we have both been wanting to do for quite some time - its been awhile.

Hit The Target

We did manage to stop by Target last night after work as well as Scraps dog company to get Oggy some food, treats and related. At Target we spent a ton of cash which was a bit unexpected but all things that we have been wanting or needing as well as the necessaties that are expensive everywhere else so you have to get them there.

Sure, we could save a few bucks at Wally World (Walmart) but we do everything we can not to support them because of the way they choose to do business. It's tough at times and prolly will be that much more difficult once we are buying diapers as I am sure they are tons cheaper there. But we will do our best to stay far away from spending our money there just to save a couple bucks. Same with Starbucks, they can screw themselves as far as I am concerned.

Speaking Of Shitheads (aka Starbucks)

After the fucking retard CEO came out and asked that no guns be brought into his stores and that he was now making all stores a "safe, no-gun zone" I cannot help but to laugh at his ignorance. What, are you telling me that all he as to do is put a sticker on the door or spew some words from his ignorant unconstitutional CEO mouth and that is all that it's going to take to keep bad things from happening? Wow, I am surprised he is not in government and more importantly that no-one else has thought of such a great idea - dumb-ass!

Anyway, he asked that whether concealed or open carry he wants nothing of the sort in his stores because he wants them to be "safe" LOL I simply don't know what to say! Well except for the obvious fact that as of that day, they have lost my business as well as Cicely's and I guarantee you a slew of others that have been long time, law abiding patrons.

Anyone that thinks they can tell me what to do when I am a law abiding citizen and long time customer can suck-it. Enjoy your nickle and dime hippies coming into the store. I for one will be the first to hit up Peet's coffee or local establishments now for my $6 lattes!

Oh and just so you know - not if, but when you get robbed in the future by some shxt-head thief and NOT by a law abiding firearm owner - because now everyone knows that no-one in the store will be armed; I will sit back and laugh at your stupid sorry ass.

Honestly, when this happens my biggest fear is that someone gets hurt, whether a patron or employee because of your stupidity. You are just a fucking ignorant asshole in my book! I think that when this happens anyone injured needs to personally sue you, not the corporation - in my eyes, this is your fault and you should be the one to take the fall.

Steppin' Off That Soapbox

I think that will do it for today's entry. I am going to try and get some things done that we have been putting off or not able to catch up on with regards to getting Zoey's room setup and my office turned into an office / studio for Cicely and I.

Photo: Egg and turkey sausage omelette I made for the fuzzy kid today. He is a good boy and deserves a little something special now and then. Plus it was a blast making it and then watching him freak out when he realized it was for him was the icing on the cake.
