Meh-Day

Not a dam thing to write about today to be honest. It has been one of those days where I woke up before the sun and have been up since (its now nearly bedtime for most of the west coast). I managed to make Cicely some pancakes again, well heat up the ones that she wanted to save from yesterday anyway. Chopped up some fresh strawberries as well as had an omelette for myself and a couple cups of coffee.

Parenting 0.95

From there I was either on the iPad or the internet most of the day. Learning things about being a parent. Ok mostly learning about the accessories needed to be a parent. Looking into things to dispose of diapers while not letting them stink up the house. At the same time being sensitive to the environment and getting something that is a little more friendly. Yea, the most friendly is to go cloth, I know - but no thanks, plus one person doing so is not going to change the world. Bad attitude maybe, but its a fact ya' hippy.

Go ahead and give me some grief I can take it! Hell, I have already been getting shxt from peeps and family because I have been watching YouTube videos about the correct way to wrap them up (the technique that is with those blankets so they are cocooned). I actually like some of the modern models a lot better because they have Velcro and you can put them into it, cinch over the Velcro tabs and they are good-to-go.

I have even been watching things to learn about breast feeding - go on, laugh and get it out of your system I can wait. I just figured it was important to better understand what is involved, what things Cicely will be dealing with during it and so on. Personally I don't see any flaws in my logic. I am a boob guy after-all but there is nothing "hawt" about seeing a woman breastfeed, it's more, heck I dunno more of a natural kinda magical thing when you see the baby locking on to the moms eyes while he/she is feeding. Something us guys will know nothing about, so we have to sit on the sidelines and do what we can to comfort mom and experience it that way.

Did a bunch of research and general learning about my new 450 size helicopter that I will be building over the winter. I mean I really could build it now, but I am not ready to fly it yet and have more than enough stuff on my plate that needs to be done besides building my heli. We were supposed to start getting the rooms set-up and boxed up for storage so we can get the baby room in order but that was a lost cause. Cicely was tired, nausea, had a headache or a combo of those most of the weekend so I was not going to push anything she was not also up to.

We did manage to take our second photo of Cicely. We are taking one every month on the 8th so we can see how her and our daughter grows (tentatively her name and the spelling of her name is Zoey). We are not entirely set on it but it is the one we both really like, the spelling may change to be something like Zooey but that is too close to Zoo for my taste. I was thinking to do something a little more "edgy" like Xoey but I can just hear the family and friends now complaining about that one. Honestly, don't really care - so long as we are happy. They will grow to love her no matter the spelling of her name.

Vault

I am super stoked that my new safe / vault will be showing up this Wednesday, woot! I have been saving and waiting to get one for nearly - man, as long as I can remember. Even being conservative, at least as long as we have been together which would be over 15 years. It was no easy task laying down nearly 4k on a big 1300 pound box with a few shelves and a combination lock on the front. But again, it's so necessary and even more so with the little one coming. I want everything to be safe and sound for her.

Don't get me wrong and assume she will not understand the proper safety and handling of firearms because she will. I / we plan to teach her when she is curious and ready. She does not need to become an expert or an avid shooter, rather understand the safety and what to do and what not to do around them should one be out of the vault.

Kill It

That is all for this entry. I need to get a few things done before the weekend is officially over. Not to mention we have Breaking Bad and Dexter recorded on the TiVo to watch and I want to get my dinner, plant my butt in my spot on the couch and enjoy the awesomeness that is those 2 shows! Monday is already peaking around the corner and I am not making eye contact - yet!

Photo: Extremely crappy photo of my new, bad-ass 450 kit! I will have additional photos once it's built later this year.
