I have hesitated on the Arduino because of the time involved to learn it and the fact that for $99 or more it may just sit on a shelf with all of my other "get around to it eventually" projects. Not to mention it can be difficult to determine what exactly you need. Don't get me wrong there are tons of resources out there along with forums and related as well as YouTube videos. I wanted something extremely entry level and all-in-one.
This kit made by Borderless Electronics on the otherhand was only a $9! How could anyone go wrong supporting such a great kit and an inexpensive way to get your feet wet?
I bought 2 actually just in case I screw one up or have a friend, family member or child that wants to learn how it works and have some fun while doing so.
What's-more is the project met all of the initial goals it had and beyond so not only did everyone start to get kits delivered 2 weeks+ early but we were also lucky enough to get extras thrown in by the project creator. Things like LEDs, resistors and so on which is extra-cool for many reasons.
On top of this the creator is taking the time to set-up lessons and downloads to give everyone a way to dive right into their first project. Otherwise unless you have had a longtime project in mind it can be difficult to think of something to create from scratch with a pile of components in front of you on your dining room table or hobby work area.
Gaming Show
So our annual gaming show is going on this week in Vegas and from the reports I have seen so far it appears that we are kicking some major ass this year - NICE!
We have already won awards for our Avatar game and the news went out that Ceasars is going to update a ton of their poker machines to our AVP line - 7,000 to be exact.
Our stock has been looking much better the past couple weeks so I hope the trend continues. I have a shxt-ton of shares that were bought during the salad days, early 2000 that will probably never fully recover but every little bit the market goes up helps.
Exit
That will do it for today. I am really looking forward to messing with my kit and learning how to make some circuits, make LEDs blink or tones squeal. For now though it's work and moms tonight to check on her and make her some dinner while getting her meds.
Photo: Components from the 1st of 2 of the kits. Potential for loads if fun right there!
