So the big storm that was predicted to flood the valley today never materialized. Well ok, it rained most of the morning and even pretty hard at times but not enough to do anything major. I will admit that here were a few times I thought I was going to be proven wrong and have to eat some crow, problem is the rain would start, rain hard, then stop as soon as it started puddling up. Not the makings of a flood, only mud pie making weather at its finest.
I suppose that it doesn't help that my photo isn't reaffirming an image of splashing doom and gloom. Its proof that it was just sporadic enough that I was unable to get a good shot that would be worthy. I bet the local news has a few I could have borrowed, oh wait, <smirk> they are still using footage from the flood of 1997! Fucking sensationalist, never-mind.
Woooolf
Around 3 o'clock, the local news canceled all the warnings about the possibility of major flooding in the valley. I guess they will have sandbags for next time. my hope is that there isn't a next time anytime soon.
Lazy
For me the best thing about the rain is not feeling as though I need to go out and do something because if I sit inside on my ass I am missing out on the beautiful weather. So that's pretty much what I did, nothin, and I loved every minute of it.
Nothing quite like 2 cups of coffee, several levels of Angry Birds, a few rounds of Words with Friends, and then having to decide what's next? I chose to take a nap so Oggy and I laid down on the couch and slept for about an hour and a half. Refreshing!
Afternoon Into Evening
Normally on Sunday afternoons I start my workouts for the week. Today is no different so that's exactly what I did. I headed outside and did 4 miles on the treadmill and lifted weights. Biceps were today's focus.
After, it was back inside and time to take Oggy for a quick .80 mile walk like we do everyday and especially on Sundays if we don't go to the Sparks Marina. He didn't feel too good earlier in the day so I figured it would do him good to get out and stretch his legs and sniff around and it did.
After Oggy's walk, it was time for me to get my bi-monthly haircut. Cicely does them for me so I don't have to go down to one of the Sports Clips, Supercuts or similar places, thank all things that are good. Don't get me wrong there's nothing inherently wrong with those places I just prefer to have it done at home. Plus, since I get my hair cut every two weeks it gets kind of expensive to go to an actual barber that often.
Toys
I kicked around the idea again today about going over to Best Buy and picking up an iPad Mini. Inclement weather has that effect on me. i want to play with gadgets, build robots and that sort of thing. good thing i don't live in Seattle or we would be broke! Anyway, after more thought I think it's in my best interest to just wait and get an 11" MacBook Air instead. Yea that is on my list as well. When I travel occasionally, or when just sitting in the backyard it's much more convenient to have a connected keyboard and it's still lightweight. Don't get me wrong the iPad Mini has not been erased from the list, merely reordered.
Dad
I talked about this in my personal journal, but not in my blogger journal since my other journal tends to be more personal, by name, and that sort of thing. Anyway, a few months back my dad was in a bad motorcycle accident. It ended up putting him in our local hospital, Renown for quite a lengthy visit. He stayed in the intensive care unit for 26 days. We had no idea what the outcome would be but we all visited and showed support 1 or more times per day, its so important! So if you ever have a loved one in a similar situation be sure to visit and visit often. They may be "out of it", or asleep but they know you are or were there, trust me.
To give you an idea of some of his bigger injuries; he had a broken shoulder, punctured lung, several broken ribs, several separated ribs, broken wrists, broken arms among other things, it was scary to say the least.
The good thing is that with the help of all the awesome people at Renown, the support of my step-mom Cyndi and all of us and friends he made a full recovery!
The reason I am bringing this up is because today he sent me photos of his fully repaired, decked out and once again, custom painted Harley. I can't believe that he Is interested in getting back on it. I don't know if I would have the balls to saddle back up again. I have had my fair share of crashes and close calls in many forms of motor-sports and racing but nothing like 26 days in an intensive care unit.
I am just happy that he made it through it and is still here to decide whether he wants to ride again or not. It's his choice not the roads, not anything else that could have taken that choice away from him. To me that is some pretty awesome shit and the definition of a bad ass biker! Rubber side down here on out ok dad!
TV
I had a feeling that I would watch Netflix a bunch today because of the shxt weather. Nope that did not happen, I ended up, as mentioned just playing on the iPad most of the day and a little bit on my MacBook Pro.
But wait just a second the day is not over and tonight it's time for Dexter, hells yeah! It should be a really friggin' good episode, I'm just bummed that there only a few episodes left like many of my shows. Oh well, all good things have to come to an end so they say.
C-Ya
That's about it for today. Just getting ready to ease into the work week tomorrow and see what comes thereafter. Should be pretty uneventful, that's okay with me!
Days like the past few make everyday writing extremely difficult, probably very boring for most actually. I am ok with that though, I simply remind myself that the writing is for me or anyone that may want a small glimpse into my day-to-day. sure sometimes its prolly pretty boring other times less boring. I bet your journal would be as well, and if not here are some kudos for ya' [KUDOS].
Heck maybe my unborn kiddo will want to read it one day to better understand why his/her pops is such an awesome guy. Remember, I never made any promises to anyone, myself included, that it would be top rated novel material.
