Pretty average day today once again, but at least we managed to get some work done on the house that we have been wanting to do for quite some time, over 4 years actually.
Light
So today at 11 o'clock the guys from DC Electric showed up to install 4 new lights on the exterior of the house as well as install a ceiling fan remote in the master bedroom that we have been wanting to add for as long as I can remember.
By 1 o'clock they were done! I was amazed how fast 2 guys were able to run all of the new wiring, conduit, and install the fixtures. It was great to see everything finally finished. We originally planned to do this same install last year right around the time I blew out my bicep. But because we had no idea how much all of the medical bills would amount to we decided it would be in our best interest to wait.
Fast-forward to the start of this month and we figured we had waited long enough and so it was time to do it. I have to say that it was worth the wait, it looks so much better now and obviously it's also much brighter out back, I can't wait to barbecue and try it out this summer.
Small Problem
So we paid DC Electric and they were on their way, off to the next project. So we went inside and watched TV for a few minutes when I decided to go back out and take another look at the finished project. This is when I noticed a problem, coming back inside I looked up at the light next to the sliding glass door only to notice that the fixtures glass had been broken, fuck!
This means a trip to Home Depot to try to exchange it for another fixture then come back home and try to rewire the light that I just paid to be wired. Not a huge deal and also not DC Electric's fault. It's just one of those things that happens.
Once we got to Home Depot to get a replacement fixture we ended up having to get a smaller one because the last one they had that was the medium-size like ours was also broken. It must have something to do with the way the light fixture company packages them or lack of packaging I guess.
That is okay though the smaller fixture looks just as good and no-one but us will ever know that it's slightly smaller than what used to be there. Don't get me wrong, I was actually really pissed/bummed when I noticed the last one Home Depot had was broken. It was Cicely that convinced me that it will look just as good and now that I see it I cannot disagree. You would think I would have learned by now to listen to my better-half huh!
Snowing
Luckily for us we finished the project early enough and just after dark. As we were finishing up, it started snowing again. I like it when the snow falls lightly like it was, but when it starts coming down harder and sticking then it's a pain because that only means shoveling tomorrow. Okay-by-me this time because I will just pull out the snow blower again and tear up some "white stuff" with it! That damn snow blower is so friggin' awesome! I honestly cannot believe I waited over 10 years to get one.
Later Sk8r
I think that about does it for today. I am going to go out to the garage and spend some time on the treadmill. It has been a long day for some reason, and now it's time to do some cardio and then relax for the night. Possibly watching some Warehouse 13 on Netflix with Cicely and Oggy. Anyway, until next time, later skater!
