iPad Retina

Wow, for  the majority of us it's Monday, the start of the work week and a sort of "do over" for things we should have done or could have done better last week. For me, on most any other Monday there would be a whole laundry list of things to talk about. Unfortunately the day has been so busy that I have not had much time to even catch my breath and think of anything good to write about. Just to give you an idea, and no I am not looking for any sympathy, I did not even heat up my lunch until 3:30 which really screws up my day because I don't want to workout on a full stomach, but if I don't eat I will end up with a nasty headache. Ends up being a lesser of the two evils situation. Nothing a flip of a coin cant resolve. (by-the-way, if you were wondering - lunch won the coin-toss today)

iPad With Retina Display

Pretty much the only kick-ass thing that will be happening today is that my iPad Retina will be delivered to my dads house sometime this afternoon. I did not feel safe leaving it on the doorstep this time of year when people may be hurting for money or gifts for one another. So after work we will jam past his house to pick it up, hopefully its there, it was supposed to be delivered by 3:00 although I have not heard anything from him so I guess I better call before we drive by and interrupt their evening.

Generally I would be like a little kid all day long - watching the clock, doing nothing other than anticipating getting off of work throughout the day so I can rush home and tear open my new gadget. This time, not so much. Heck I dunno if I will even take the time to set it up tonight, might just wait until the weekend when I have a bunch of time to do it.

Don't get me wrong, it's super cool that I am getting a new device. The faster processor and higher resolution display will be awesome but really there is nothing "earth shattering" about it and exactly why I did not order one when they first came out. My iPad first generation was fine when the iPad 2 came out and my iPad 2 was fine when the iPad Retina came out. Partially because work gave me the iPad 2 but no matter I would not have personally upgraded my device either had work not provided me with one. At the time I was actually hoping for a mini which as we all know now did not end up being released until quite a bit later.

Anyway, nothing "earth shattering new" is the major reason I cant pull the trigger on the iPad Mini. Every-time I mess with one over at the Apple Store they instantly put me in the mood to whip out some cash and walk out the door with one. After having the full size version the mini form factor just feels great and is so much lighter and thinner. Almost the difference between holding an iPhone 5 and one of the new iPod Touches (dam I wish they would get the iPhone that thin, that would be awesome!) Ok focus; the problem is, I am pretty certain they will be releasing a new mini sooner than later if the life-cycle of the full size iPad is any indication. Normally I could and would care less and would want it because its new and cool but this time I am actually holding out in hopes that they will add a retina display to the mini as well as improve the processor.

As mentioned, I will be the first to admit that the form factor of the mini feels great in the hand, but I still think the Amazon Kindle Paperwhite that I am considering getting as soon as they are not 3 weeks or more back ordered!!, is a much better choice for a reader device. The iPad Mini has the same glossy screen that makes me want to slap-a-baby anytime I am using it in a situation where there is natural light. Although I bet it is awwwesomeee to play Angry Birds, Star Wars on!

Weather, Or Not

We were supposed to once again have snow in the valley today by noon but were left with nothing more than some rain and flurries at best. It has been extremely windy off and on all day so usually that means there is something blowing in over the mountains. The weather guessers have it slated for snow once again tomorrow. I will believe it when I see it and actually would prefer to not see it at all down in the valley for the entire season. Yea whatever, send me your hate mail all of you snowboarders, skiers and snowmobile junkies. I like to play in the stuff too, but c'mon you have to admit its much better when its up in the mountains. I am totally content with it being cold and wet some days and having tons of amazing white stuff just 15 minutes or less away.

Dexter

So as expected, lasts nights season finale of Dexter did not disappoint. I was actually blown away by several events that took place to take us into season 8 and even more-so by the crazy ass ending. I wont go into details here because I don't want to spoil it if someone that is reading this has yet to see the episode or is planning to watch them on Netflix or Blue-Ray at a later date like a lot of people do. I will say that there is going to be some 'splaining to do Lucy!

I think season 8, the final season, is going to be crazy and at the same time be required to tie up a lot of loose ends and make way for the ending of the show and I can only assume, the end of Dexter? I think it's going to make us feel that he is more of what he actually is, a serial killer, rather than a likeable guy who has us all convinced that he is doing the right thing every-time he does wrong.

We will have to wait and see, I am mostly bummed because I don't have hardly any shows to stare at during dinner this time of year. I think I have one episode of Dr. Who coming up, the Christmas episode and that is about it. I guess that is my queue to catch up on some of the books I have been reading or meaning to read.

So long

I can only hope that your Monday was great, or at the very least salvageable. If not don't fret, you will get another chance at having a great Monday this time next week!

So for now, its time to say "so long". Well. today it's "so long" tomorrow it will be something different and yesterday as well. Time to bundle up tonight and light that toasty fire once again. Then look forward to tomorrow to find out how right, or wrong, the weather guessers were and see what the day has in store for me; bring it!
