So last night it started snowing, actually yesterday afternoon around two. It's the first real snow that we have had down here in the valley to speak of. I honestly did not think it would amount to much. Then this morning when I woke up and looked outside I was surprised to see that several inches had fallen, crap time to get out the shovel.
Ham-n-Beans
Last night I took the remainder of the ham that we had gotten from dad and Cyndi, and decided to make ham and bean soup. I have never made it before so I had to send Kelly a text and ask her for some tips. Overall it was really easy once the beans were soaked for eight hours, that was probably the hardest part, only because it takes so long.
The reason I am mentioning it is because that will be our reward for shoveling the driveway and patio in the backyard. Nothing like being cold and then coming inside to a steaming hot bowl of ham and bean soup, better yet homemade.
Fractals
Yesterday I spent the majority of the day playing the Fairway Solitaire golf game that I talked about yesterday. Today besides shoveling snow it was more of the same although at one point I switched over to this new game that I had downloaded from the App Store last week called "Fractals". I will say that it turned out to be a cool game once you get the hang of it. One crappy part is that there are no instructions to kinda "get you going", at least none that I noticed. Once you get the hang of it, it's still not as easy as it appears to be by any means.
Fractals is one of those games that even when you think you're doing well you're probably still losing the majority of the time. For me, I have to be in the mood to play it otherwise there will be an iPhone, iPad or iPod soaring across the room out of pure frustration.
Boob Tube
The rest of the afternoon and into the evening is going to be spent with our buddy Netflix watching more episodes of Warehouse 13. I may end up downloading this motorcross movie I wanted to see called Bro' not that its available on iTunes. I'm pretty sure it's your typical semi-independent film, but it looks interesting and I more importantly I would like to support the people that made it. I guess I will see how it turns out.
Come to think of it, I still need to watch National Lampoons Christmas Vacation! I always watched it a bunch this time of year and this year I have not even once. It's sitting there waiting on my TiVo so I better get to it! Such a great movie!
Tomorrow
Tomorrow is looking like it's going to be filled with running around getting shxt done.
We have our electrician coming out on Friday to finally install some lights we have been wanting to put in the backyard for quite some time around the patio. It's going to be SO much nicer being outside BBQ'ing this summer and actually being able to see what I am doing if I happen to be cooking in the dark like usual. Anyway, in preparation for him coming out and doing the work we have to go to Home Depot and/or Lowe's and pick up some light nice fixtures.
AR Drone
I am sad to say that I have not been able to fly my AR Drone yet. The weather just has not been good enough, and I read online that peeps suggest not flying it in wet areas or wet landings. Supposedly it can handle it to some extent, but I don't want to take any chances, especially on my first flight.
Since it is just sitting on the floor tempting me, I will probably take a maiden flight inside the house or better yet go out into the garage and fly a little. At the very least that will be fun, and get the bug out of my system to fly it. Let's just hope I don't ruin it, or worst yet, tear up the house learning to fly.
Since the AR Drone captures video while it's flying maybe at some point I will post some of the videos. I won't be able to do it if you are reading this on my Day One Journal, but if you are reading this on Blogger then I may post the video in a future entry.
Worst case I will try to put them on my YouTube channel. I can't guarantee how cool they will be. I don't always take the time to add a cool music, or edit them. I mainly try to put video up so I have it later on, sort-of as a backup. Plus, as mentioned before, in case Cicely, myself or our kiddo someday would like to look at any content before they were born, it will be there.
My only real gripe is that at the time I am writing this YouTube does not allow you to view your own private videos on your My Channel area. You have to know to go into the Upload Manager, if you asked me how I felt about this, to be nice, I would only say - LAME!
All I Got
It's looking like that's about all I have for today. Not a whole lot going on and I am not sad about that at all. It's been really nice just chilling for the last few days and I can't wait for more of it in the next few. It will slowly get a little busier but the good part is that will transition us into the hectic start of a new year.
