What End Are "They" Referring To
I touched upon it yesterday, now that it's yesterdays tomorrow I am thinking that we need to ask ourselves what "end" the media has us all bent out of shape over. Maybe they were simply being overly dramatic on the interpretation and in reality only warning us that it is the end of the week, the workweek for most (yea not counting you ya' crazy housewife). Possibly they are dramatically stating that it was the last chance, aka "the end" of the shopping season if you hoped to have packages delivered by Christmas? Honestly I don't really know. Although I doubt any of it is even close to what the Mayans had in mind when ending their calendar.
None the less, I am enjoyed some tasty lasagne for lunch as my last meal. I plan to hit the gym and do my usual workout routine this afternoon. Not only because I think tomorrow will come but also as a precaution since I believe that even in the afterlife your fitness is important and relevant. Don't get me wrong, I am by no means some chiseled statuette guy, just trying to keep the cholesterol down and the blood pressure at bay the best that I can. So yea, enough about that.
Happy Birthday
I wanted to throw a quick shout-out to my brother-in-law. Today is his escaping from the womb day and I cant think of a cooler day to have it on than on the day the world is supposed to end. Happy Birthday Dan! Don't forget, you are entitled to the last piece or the biggest piece of cake all day. Don't take any shxt from anyone that tells you different!

The NRA talked as they have in years past about giving classes free of charge to schools and related on firearms just as the majority of schools now do for sex education for example. I think that is a great idea because in my book knowledge is power and uneducated fears only get you into trouble. I know everyone uses this example but what are usually the things you want most? Those that are out of reach and those you are either sheltered from or told you cannot have.
Why not educate kids and adults? No matter what most "adults" think, kids are not stupid just because they are young. Everyone that I know, myself included, that are firearm enthusiast were around them from a very young age. Taught right and wrong and shown how to safely handle firearms, ammunition and all things in between. All very positive experiences that created respect and understanding for the object rather than fear. Sure, lets just hide this from them then when they are of age and considered an "adult" they can make their own decision. Yea, great idea you have there.
Using the same example why not take the
Smirk if it makes you feel better, maybe even roll your eyes little. Feel better now? Good, but I know it's still eating at you that I am making sense. If you do nothing more than shelter kids from "insert subject matter here" I guarantee you they will make a lot of mistakes if ever in the presence of said subject matter. For example, look at something we are all familiar with at some point in our lives, albeit some much earlier than others, that being sex. Now take a look at how many children get pregnant the very first time they have sex, hell a lot of adults for that matter or worse yet catch a disease. How about children that get taken advantage of by a trusted "adult". Mostly because they were not educated on the subject so they had no understanding with regards to protection, safe sex and quite possibly something as simple as what is right and what is wrong. Seems pretty obvious to us, but I guarantee you that without being educated the decisions kids make are based on entirely different sets of rules.
What follows is a small piece of what Obama
May Your Teeth Never Be Replaced With Freshly Ironed Wool SocksWe know this is a complex issue that stirs deeply held passions and political divides. And as I said on Sunday night, there's no law or set of laws that can prevent every senseless act of violence in our society. We're going to need to work on making access to mental health care at least as easy as access to a gun. We're going to need to look more closely at a culture that all too often glorifies guns and violence. And any actions we must take must begin inside the home and inside our hearts.
But the fact that this problem is complex can no longer be an excuse for doing nothing. The fact that we can't prevent every act of violence doesn't mean we can't steadily reduce the violence, and prevent the very worst violence.
Alright that is about enough once again today. According to the weather guessers in my area we are slated for snow in the valley starting today and throughout the weekend, with the mountains getting hit the hardest of course as usual. If so, I will pull out the snowblower and wool socks while meticulously manicuring the snow on my driveway, all the while looking forward to a warm cup of hot buttered rum upon completion. The weekend is upon us, the world has not ended so how about we take this opportunity to move forward and educate rather than erradicate? Sounds like the makings of a great plan to me!
