More Snow

We woke up today, looked outside only to see about 3 more inches of new snow on the ground. Once again we had no idea it was going to snow so much while we slept since it was only just barely flurrying when we went to bed last night.

Snow Removal

After a nice hot cup of coffee and a sugar cookie that was left over from Christmas Day I decided it was time to go out and tackle the snow on the driveway and patio before it got too late, several neighbors already beat me to clearing the sidewalks so I did not want to be "that neighbor". We are lucky though, we have great neighbors that care about their property, summer and winter.

Cicely came out to help me as always so it was a pretty fast job. We finished up and did not even have to use the snow-blower this time. After we finished we came inside, warmed up by the fireplace and watched some TV for a while.

King Of The World

First things first, we decided to eat some lunch and just hang out for a while and relax as we have been trying to do this past week off. We watched a few episodes of Warehouse 13 and then one episode of an old Dilbert on Netflix. After Dilbert, Cicely remembered she had recorded Titanic and it was waiting for her on TiVo. So we snuggled up and watched it again. I am thinking it was probably my 3rd time and Cicely's 7th or 8th time. I don't know why but that movie always sucks me in, must be my romantic side, yea that's it. Funny I know, but more likely because it's based on a true story and most importantly because Cicely loves it so much.

AR.Drone

So tonight I was FINALLY able to take my maiden flight with my AR.Drone, flying it only in the garage because of the snow and water outside but it was a great first flight no matter the location although more space and no ceiling would be even cooler, can't wait to start flying it outdoors and a little higher altitudes.

Anyway, I have to say that this thing is friggin' awesome and a lot of fun to fly. It's a little creepy when it initially takes off because it does it on it's own, then hovers, then you are in control after that, same with the landing, you get it close, tell it to land and it plops down on its skids.

The only real downside is the 9 minutes of flight for a 1.5 hour charging time, ugh! It's ok, Cicely bought me an extra battery and I can always get more to rotate out so its all good. I did not want to come back inside, I was having an absolute blast flying it tonight. Thanks to my awesome wife for such a killer Christmas present!

The video of the first flight is already up on YouTube but its currently still marked as "private" because its in the garage, unedited and stuff. Probably not a big deal but I am just being shy I guess. Maybe I will change it to "public" at some point as promised in a previous post.

Doctor Who, Christmas Special

For some reason we missed the Doctor Who Christmas episode on Tuesday when it aired. Not sure why exactly because we had it all set-up on TiVo correctly. No matter at least it was on again today so we are recoding it and watching tonight. I can't wait, but the crappy part is its only a teaser since it's still several months before the 2013 episodes begin airing. I think this year there is supposed to be a movie coming out as well, that is if they are still planning on making it. If so you can count-me-in to buy a ticket to go check it out!

**Update, no Doctor Who once again. Charter Media has swapped around the packages and because of this it will cost an additional $10 per month for us to get BBC America. For that much we will just download the episodes from iTunes and pay for each of them as they come out. Sure its $3 an episode but that is around $90 a year less than adding the package. The other channels offered in the package are of no real interest to us so its just not worth it for one channel. Sure I like to watch Top Gear as well, but it still does not make it worth the additional expense. We plan to just rent it sometime this week or possibly next weekend.

Until Next Time

That is all for today, vacation days are coming to an end and I want to enjoy them to the fullest before they are history. We don't have any up coming trips this year so time-off in 2013 will probably spent as stay-cation days like home upgrades and work. Hopefully it wont be a year of working and nothing more, what fun is that? It's much more fun and relaxing hanging out enjoying our time together while away from work and all of life's general to-do's.
