Back To Work

Here we are at the top of a normal work week. Meaning no short days because of holidays or special events going on at work to make things more interesting, or more-so out of the normal day-to-day. I am completely okay with that and am ready to jump back into it.

Storm Warning

So there were winter storm warnings issued this morning from the local alert services. I am not entirely clear on whether or not they were referring to us getting mostly rain down here and slippery roads with snow in the mountains or if they are now calling for bad weather down here in the valley.

I know that it was snowing this weekend up in Donner pass because of a few friends posting photos on their way back from the holiday in California. Nothing has made its way down here yet other than the rain and I am okay with that. I am not in the mood to begin shoveling snow although it's inevitable that it will be much sooner than I would like.

Focus

Alright it's back to it and time to focus my attention once again on work and my team. The end of the year is always an exciting time of the year for most. They have the holidays on their mind, bonus money coming as well as the New Year right around the corner.

Ugh, New Years.... I would rather not start thinking about that yet. The gym gets nutty with all of those that want to change their lives only to give up within 15 days. Yep, that is the average number of days that most can manage their resolutions before quitting.

Focus on lasting goals rather than changes that you suddenly want to make happen but are not very vested in making a 'must have'. Doing so will allow you to have a 'must' that will help you to stay focused, never go back and it becomes easy and a part of you.

More on this later as I will surely get up on a big-ass soapbox at the start of the year when the gym is packed, everyone is on some new bullshxt diet or a trendy new workout program or even worse they dive into something like Crossfit and either get hurt or end up looking and feeling amazing but then that becomes their identity, they forget how they got there and wham - they adapt and become that person they think they are or should be rather than who they are.

To succeed with the definition of yourself that you unknowingly set long ago you have to have a standard and a 'must'. This will help to make you do what it takes to get it done no matter the barriers that are in your way.

The only way to get out of this is that you/we need to be spontaneous. By doing so the next thing you know you will be you, your life will shift and you will then live who you believe who you are. You are in control, learn the dynamics of what is inside you and defines you.

Have a great day, and most importantly - be you! If nothing else do one minor thing, three simple words; "Raise Your Standards".

Photo: It's December 1st and I am happy to post a photo of my well groomed lawn, still green from summers sunshine and long days. Oh and the rain the past few weeks has been a big help as well.
