Whooshed By

Well here we are back on the top of the week once again, Monday and the weekend did nothing short of whooshed by like a high speed train. The start of the week is always a little crazy for me until around Wednesday or Thursday when it starts to get a little more mellow. Then Friday can be hit or miss, really it depends on the days prior.

On The Menu

This week my hope is that I can start getting the year end reviews done for my team. Sitting down to do the 1:1's can be a little stressful and is always time consuming to do. No matter it's a big part of the position and something that has to be done.

Once done I can then work toward setting up each employees MBO's for fiscal year ending in 2015. Somewhere in-between I can focus on merit increases as well as promotions or bonuses if available.

For me it looks as though there is not a lot of either of those for the year. The company did not hit our marks as good as we planned but thankfully there is something there to work with. Either way there will always be those that bitch and complain. I could give everyone a raise as well as a huge bonus and promotion and a third or more would complain about some aspect of one or all of them. As I have always said, management would be a piece of cake if it were not fir the fact managers have to deal with people.

Sore

Little sore today from the rides this weekend. Sucks to be honest, I don't feel as though I did much of anything to be sore from. Sure I rode a total of 17 or 18 miles but compared to my normal cycling that is nothing.

Part of it is all of the hiking and additional strength required as well as focus to ride single-track in the mountains. As fun as it looks and actually is at times it's not even close to reward that I get from road cycling on the weekends. Probably the only nice part is that there is no fear of flats on the mountain bike. That is something I need to really look into for the next road bike I purchase. Well that and I want the Di2 electronic shifting or whatever is new and available.

Disk brakes would be cool simply for their stopping power but the moment they started to squeal like my mountain bike disc brakes I would lose my patience. On the road I like peace and quiet, maybe some music through my headphones or listening to my breathing. All of those things really put my mind at ease and create an awesome adventure for the day.

Enough

Alright that will do it for today. Typed this up while Cicely is driving. Wanted to get it out of the way because of the busy day and the chances of much else to rabble about are slim.

Next week it's back to school and getting ready for the holidays to be upon us. I think Cicely's mom is planning to come down as well for a few days.

More on all of that later of course. For me, I just want a mellow week or more off from work, not thinking about or stressing about reviews and new year budgeting stuff.

Have a good Monday!

Photo: Really cool sunset I snapped a photo of Sunday. Diggin' all the orange, almost looks Photoshopped - it's not.
